Test Drove a 2005 M3 Tonight

Holy f*ck! That is a bumpy ride! At 110 mph on rt.83 I could bearly keep it on the road. After 5 minutes of hard driving, it felt like I got my ass kicked. Seriously, it's like a roller coaster ride at Cedar Point.

Fuckin beautiful interior, though.

Westmont BMW has a 2006 SMG, OMG! The thing is just beautiful inside and outside ! At 56k, the 2006 SMG is too rich for my blood.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

I've only driven the normal 3 series bimmers. My mom and another buddy both have one. You really didn't like it? I love em. I can only imagine how much a M3 could be.

I am not kidding you. At 110 mph, the steering wheel was turning 1/4 turn to either side as I tried to keep it straight.

The back end slides out like butter, turns are a DREAM!, but it kicked my ass on anything but a perfectly flat road. I was dazed after 5 minutes of hard driving.

Wait for the new V8 comming early next year, the price on current M3's will drop. Yeah it's a stiff outdated suspension. Did u hit/drive with the POWER button ON?

There was a SPORT button I played with. Either way, sport or no sport, the thing is a roller coaster.

And a short throw shifter would be a must have aftermarket install. My 92 Honda Accord had a tighter shift box.

I now know what that phrase means. I thought it meant hugs the turns. I now know it means roller coaster bumpy.

Actually, I did mean glued to the road. The kidney buster reference was about feeling every little pebble and imperfection that gets between your tire and the road.

The M3 does sound like a nice adrenalin rush though

Oh fuck yeah. When the guy threw me the keys and says "you can take it whereever you want" I smiled at the chicka I was with and we took off. The ride is fun as hell! I was out cornering every other car on the road. A few cars tried to keep up, but I lost them on the straights and fuckin smoked em in the turns. The car was a blast! It was the most fun I have had in a car. Just didn't like the gear box at all. Clutch seemed to engage fine, the gear box was just too long between the gears.

I can only imagine the arcade game like thrill of the SMG.

M3 is really hard edged...... the "sport / normal" button on the console
adjusts throttle sensitivity to tame the beast some around town.

On the wrong roads they are a bit harsh.

Much firmer than the base 3 Series or 3 with Sport Package.

Really fun in the "G" department on a smoother surface.

I knew they were semi-rare but I just read this. Less than 8,000 total were sold in the US. There's several on ebay going for less than 20g. Maintainance cost on those would scare the crap out of me though.

"Sales of the E31 were affected by the global recession of the early 1990s, the Persian Gulf War, and energy price spikes. BMW pulled the 8 Series out of the North American market in 1997, selling only a combined model total of 7,232 cars over seven years. BMW continued production for Europe until 1999, though only as the 840Ci. The eventual total number of cars built world wide came to 30,621."

It sounds like this car has been abused or you were on really rough road. I have a 04' M3 6-sp and do not have this problem. 100+ is smooth as can be unless the road sucks, remember the suspension is set up like a sports car. The sport setting also will tighten the car up.

The 08 M3 will be out in March, V-8 415hp. 65k is expected price range but I understand there is a pretty large waiting list already. If 08's are tough to find, 03's - 05's should hold some value. I paid 40k last year for the 04'm with 28k miles.

I rode shotgun with a old buddy of mine at an autocross day at Gingerman. He had a super ratty, pretty much bone stock 3 Series 2-door. He took a few racing schools. The car and the dude were fast. I love speed and roller costers and sportbikes and all that stuff. But riding with this dude, I wanted to close my eyes as he came up to every turn. The kid could fucking drive and the car was super planted. I shit you not. One of the coolest things I've ever done. I was really impressed how well that 3 series handled and braked.

WSE - If you are truely interested I test drive another one. The first one I drove in Naperville was beat to shit and they wanted way too much.

I think I am love with the 645ci now. My friend has one with the M-6 wheels...... fricken nasty.

Bald tires? Either that or WSE was going over bumpy roads on purpose so the chicka can DT his cawk.

absolute dream car right here for me. Find it hard to believe that it was that bad though, like others have said either the worst road ever or it was just really beat up.
If the pocket book allowed it I'd have either one of these or the new 335i with the twin turbo.
