I'm moving to Pompano Beach, FL in October!!!

Yeeeeep!!! I'll be finished with my certified flight instructor training in September. After that my school already wants to hire me because I know quite a bit of stuff already and i'm not even in the flight instructor school yet.

Anyways, after my school hires me they want to send me down to Pompano Beach Airpark right away where theres another one of my schools and there about 2-3 full time instructors short!!! So, i'll be instructing out of there. Also, i'll be going thru multi-engine training out of there as well.

My question for everyone in the big FL is... what are some good cities to look at for apartments? I'm looking at spending no more than $1,000 per month for all the utilities. I'll be bringing just myself down as planned for right now.

Also, whats it like living in florida? Obviously when I bust out my Burton winter jacket people will be laughing LOL...

Heres the other thread on SRTForums I originally posted: http://www.srtforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=368872

EDIT: I copied and pasted this from SRT Forums in there Florida section so the questions won't pertain to anyone here unless they've lived in Florida before...

How long of a commute are you willing to put up with and what is your tolerance of crime or other (often called) undesirable neighborhood traits?

The prices in S. Florida have gotten disgusting... Broward county especially. For that price, you're going to be hard pressed unless living in a neighborhood where you need to remove your wiper blades each time you park your car doesn't bother you.

Everyone Exaggerates

We're being taken for a ride... agaaaaaaain.....

I'm confuse! You're already a CFI according to your profile.
Anyway, GOOD LUCK!

Congrats on the move to FL. You'll love the cross country flights to Key West, over to Naples to get ribs at Michelbobs, up to Ocala to have brunch at the fly in community Travolta has a house at...and then there's Sun and Fun. You'll have a great time. Unfortunately there's nothing really cheap down there in the ways of living. Ask Flyers for their input...they might have a deal with apartment complexesa etc. Now the real question....are you going to be a real man and ride the bike there???? hahaha Just kidding.

You mean like flying into 50+ knot winds? Did you put that on your resume?

The only rating I would ever get at American Liars is the CFI. No matter how cool you think it will be to work there (trust me its not, get used to people back stabbing and learn to constantly watch what you say) they WILL fire you or "demote" you in quick time.

So what you need to do is steal as many students as you can from them and train them on your own time, a "friend" of mine used to do that.

My younger bro lives in Pampano Beach. He loves it. He's a broke-ass like his older brother but he still lives in a decent place two blocks from the beach

"safety first" huh? I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Do you know how many lawsuits there are against that place. They have killed too many people, they should be shut down. Remember a little mid-air a couple years ago with a prominent Chicago radio show host? Your future boss taught that student how to fly, bet he didn't tell you that.

"money first" is the real motto

Anyways you will have fun down there, just don't allow yourself to get brain washed.
