Water pump on Irving Park/Cumberland

What's so special about this water? I always see people filling up bottles on my way home from work.

My dad used to go there on weekends when I was a little kid and pump water. It's supposed to come from some special well or something

I have no idea where you are talking about, but I would guess being well water it tastes a little different than the filtered lake water and people like that. I'd prefer well water if it was available (most of the time) like the water we had on my grandparents farm growing up. Listed as the 2nd purest water in the state of WI.

It's about a 1/4 mile west of Cumberland on the south side of Irving Park. It's on the same side as the hidden hill, but you can't see the hill from the street...hence the name. It's right next to the r/c plane flying field area.

I've passed by numerous times and there are people lined up almost all day even there at 2 or 3 in the morning getting water. I've tasted the water, it's nothing special. My guess would be its a good source of free and clean drinking water.

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil,

'The Light at the End of the Tunnel' has been turned off.

We used to drive 7 miles in Plantation, FL to the water plant to fill up gallon jugs that lined the '72 Dodge Polara trunk...

Maybe it was a 70's thing. It was a twice weekly road trip.

Friday night meet-up spot?

Just make sure to not have the headlights facing Irving Park... don't want to send the wrong message.

Thanks for the clarification. It's not something I'm familiar with.

Water that close to the Des Plaines river is not something I want. That is Schiller Woods.

They have done it all my life and I don't think I eer tried it.
