Michael Vick Indicted

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive...7072vick1.html

Feds: Falcons QB, cohorts executed pit bulls that failed fight tests

JULY 17--NFL star Michael Vick was indicted today on a federal conspiracy charge for his alleged role in a dog fighting venture that operated from a Virginia property owned by the Atlanta Falcons quarterback. A copy of the indictment, filed today in U.S. District Court in Richmond, can be found below. The 27-year-old Vick, whose nickname is listed as "Ookie" in the indictment, allegedly established the Bad Newz Kennels in early-2001 in Smithfield, Virginia. It was this property, for which Vick paid $34,000, that the star athlete and his codefendants used as the "main staging area for housing and training the pit bulls involved in the dog fighting venture and hosting dog fights." According to prosecutors, Vick and his cohorts began purchasing pit bull puppies in late-2001 and would eventually "sponsor" individual dog fights with purses as high as $26,000. In the indictment's most harrowing parts, federal investigators describe what happened to some Bad Newz Kennels dogs that either lost matches or did not perform well in test fights. After a March 2003 loss by a female pit bull, codefendant Purnell Peace, "after consulting with Vick," electrocuted the animal. In April, prosecutors allege, Vick, Peace, and Quanis Phillips, "executed approximately 8 dogs that did not perform well in 'testing' sessions." These animals, the indictment claims, were killed "by various methods, including hanging, drowning, and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground." (18 pages)

Why is he Ron Mexico? I have never been a fan and don't follow him - He was a QB that could run and had no arm (IMHO)

Yeah, the NFL will not let you order the #7 Atlanta Jersey with Mexico on it anymore, apparently they had a ton of requests. Herpes above is great! We could try some others,

DogKiller, ect..

Another example of wasted talent. He wasn't living up to all his hype but he was sure fun to watch at times. I think he may of progressed but this may be a career ender. Smart move to jeopardize millions on Dog fighting!! Has Nike dropped him yet?

Ron Mexico lawsuit
In March 2005 a woman named Sonya Elliott filed a civil lawsuit against Vick alleging she contracted genital herpes from Vick and that he failed to inform her that he had the disease.[12] Elliot further alleged that Vick had visited clinics under the alias "Ron Mexico" to get treatments and thus he knew of his condition. This led to a deluge of fans ordering customized #7 Atlanta Falcons jerseys on NFLShop.com with the name "Mexico" on the back.[13] Due to the media interest surrounding the case, the National Football League disallowed the use of the jersey/name combination two days after the lawsuit. On April 24, 2006 Vick's attorney revealed that the lawsuit had settled out of court with a undisclosed settlement.[14]

Video game developer Midway Games has alluded to Vick and his Ron Mexico alter-ego in their 2006 title, Blitz: The League. Due to Midway's loss of the National Football League license (EA Sports now has exclusive NFL licensing), all teams and players in the game are fictitious. However, the "Washington Redhawks"' star quarterback is a mobile, left-handed passer named "Mike Mexico."

Most people (ESPN) are completely missing the potential severity of his charges...part of the charges against him is conspiracy, which makes him liable for any actions the other co-conspirators may have taken. This is not a "how much football will he miss" problem, this is potentially a "how much time behind bars will he do" problem.

This asshole is in big trouble.

you knew something big was going to come out of this guy, that whole family is fucked up. he brother lost his scolarship his freshman year at Tech for some shit and everything over the years with Mike.
I'm trying to understand if all of this is in GA or if some is in VA also because the area that he is from don't take animal cruelty very lightly. When I was stationed out there some people got longer prison sentences that drug dealers and murders. It is written like this in the sentencing law, you know minimum sentences for certain crimes.

Anyway just read intodays paper that Nike still isn't saying anything, I think the NFL is going to wait and probably not touch Vick, but go after the Falcons, not to mention how many other players have been involved. Goodall isn't joking around and he said not only the player responsible but the team also, why do you think the Bears where so quick to get rid of Tank.

So there is going to be an auction at some point for alot of his stuff, anything dealing with the dog fighting if he is found guilty, anyone want a house in GA?

I didn't think I could hate someone as much as I hate Vick. I've always hated him, and now I hate him even more. I hope one of those dogs turns around and rips his ass apart, and then he dies a slow painful death. I really hate him.

You can take him out of the ghetto, but you cant take the ghetto out of him... This is actually a common thing, and it definetly needs more attention... I would give up alot to just be a cop dedicated to getting those people.

I was thinking along these lines too.

if not that, then treat him exactly like he treated the dogs.
chain him to a car axle, starve him for a while, and then make him fight against someone from the UFC. if he's still alive after he loses, hang/electrocute/shoot him.
