buying parts on ebay....F*&^* that!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...0897598&rd=1,1

Just bought this exhaust last week from guy, says its for a 92 ninja, which mine is a 93 but the same one (92 was a model D as well), and just got it today.

Ripped off old exhaust, which took a lot of other parts removal, at least an hour of work, and go to put the new one on....and a few problems...

1. when the pipes are lined up to put in the head, the secondary pipe (i think its called, 4 into 1) hits the oil pan/drain bolt before they're parallel to the head, so the whole thing is angled wrong.

and 2. The oil cooler sits below the radiator, and the oil lines run between the 2 middle pipes. On the 'new' exhaust, there's no room for it and they're smashed against the pipes...

agh! :wtf

Now to get a refund...anyone know the right way about doing this with ebay?? it has buyer protection with paypal up to 2k, so it's covered i'm sure...the auction never states 'no returns' or 'sold as is'

So you bought an exhaust for a different year and you want the money back?!?! Might be the same bike but if there is nothing wrong with the exhaust and is in great condition why would you expect the guy to refund you the money?

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

no...90-93 is the D model zx600...same exact motorcycle, that and he says it should fit other years.

There is no way it could fit a 92, or a 93, or a 90 for that matter, i know this for a fact

You can challenge through ebay or if you used paypal you can challenge through them. Before you do make sure you have facts to back you up. Saying you know for a fact doesn't work when challenging. On ebay it will become a case of he said she said type deal. Get proof from a parts department or a certified mechanic. Hope this helps.

yeah, well i just noticed (since i couldnt get the header close to the exhaust ports) that the pipes on the header are easily a good 1 mm too large by lining the old exhaust gasket with one of the pipes

File a dispute through PayPal. He will either have to refund you, or accept a return, otherwise PayPal will hold his funds (if any money is in his account... if not then you might have a harder time getting anything). Of course you would still have to pay return shipping.

Have you tried contacting the vendor? That should probably be your first step.

+1

Give the seller the benefit of the doubt and communicate with him. Worry about how to settle it with force after you receive his response. Most situations like this can be resolved with just a few emails or phone calls. The few bad instances we have had was because everybody jumps to conclusions and feels they are being screwed when it is just probably a simple mistake on somebody's part. Give him a chance and talk to him.

caveat emptor

I don't think you have much of a case. His description was vague and made no promises

I have had luck with Ebay on claims of bidders backing out with not paying. Paypal I haven't had luck with. Make sure you have everything documented beforehand to show proof of your claims.

I just submitted a claim this morning on an item not received. I have a feeling PayPal is going to screw me.

The only catch for returning your money is that they can only return if they have it in there account. If its short then you won't get a full refund. Had that happen.

I used PayPal but could not pay with a credit card as the seller only accepted instant paypal transfers. It was only $13.94 but it's the principle that counts.

Debt to your parents is like free money. When ever I wanted something from my parents, I just told them it's for school. No Asian parent can resist that.
