House on a lake suggestions

I've lived in my condo downtown for 2.5 years now. I need more room and have decided to move next summer. I'm looking at possibly moving to "the burbs", but haven't decided yet. Keeping in mind that I work in Schaumburg, is there anywhere decent to get a house on an inland lake within a 30 minute drive? Of course I'd be looking for a lake where power boats are allowed. Something where I could get a ski boat.

Fox Lake is the only lake that I am aware of that would allow powered boats near here... All the other lakes that I know of only allow paddle boats... Fox River Grove isn't too far... depending on the time of day it can take ya about 30-45 minutes to get to Schaumburg...

BWHAHAHAHAHA Nothing less then 500k around Schaumburg or Barrington thats for sure. VCook that lake is actually Des Plaines I think, right off river road and also nothing less then 600k. Better get ready to deal with Lake County.

However I would like a boat, you want to go in on one?

I still think you'd be better off getting a blow up pool and throwing some breadcrumbs to attract the ducks.

Speaking ducks, have you ever actually seen a white duck with an orange bill?? I never have....

Those are the high quality straw homes, if you want a real house you need to spend over $500K up here

There are plenty of places on Crystal Lake for sale, but you're talking 600k+

Look, I can appreciate this. I was young too, I felt just like you. Hated authority, hated all my bosses, thought they were full of shit. Look, it's like they say, if you're not a rebel by the age of 20, you got no heart, but if you haven't turned establishment by 30, you've got no brains. Because there are no story-book romances, no fairy-tale endings. So before you run out and change the world, ask yourself, "What do you really want?"

Fox River Grove isn't on a lake.

Where in Schaumburg do you work? I commuted from Crystal Lake and Cary to Schaumburg for a few years, and those places were a 30-40 minute commute years back. Going up north to the Chain 'O Lakes area and you are looking at easily an hour +.

Some friends of mine bought this gravel pit and turned it into a ski lake. The salom course is over to the west edge and there is plenty of set-up time.
I do not know how many lots are still available. It skis pretty well, not really fast or slow water. They have a decent jump too, but I never tagged a long one there.

Instead of living on the lake, I'd rather make it a "weekend home" type thing. One of my buddies parents had a trailer up on the Rock River and it was plently of room for 5-6 of us to go up there for the weekend and take the boat out to go skiing. I think they sold it a few years ago for 40-50k.

Do you drive to Woodfield Mall at 7AM on weekdays? I don't believe that one can get from Spring Grove to Schaumburg in the rush hour commute in 45 minutes.

Yes, Fox River Grove has a very large lake... I have good friends who live in FRG and their backyard is the lake and we are always taking their jet skis out on it... It's actually a pretty big lake...
