My Bike Is Totaled

Some drunk a$$hole just ran over my bike and hit my house....And my luck he's a minor with no lic and no insurence. It happened at 10:30...The police took him away and said I would have to talk to his parents maybe there insurance will cover it if not I'll have to take them to court...I'm so PISSED..The bike was parked in my drive way not in the street.I should have kicked his ass before the police got there..Sorry for such a long post

Holy Sh--T!! That sucks!! Hope he gets everything he deserves and then some!! Should have faked an injury on your part though. That way he couldn't refuse the DUI blood test. I think I have an extra case of whoop ass in the garage if ya need it though. Talk about worst case scenario. Hope you or the police took lots of pics so he can't deny it later when you have to take him to court though. hint hint. Good luck.

Who owns the car? You cannot legally drive in Illinois without insurance. The first thing I would do if you run into any problems is file a complaint for driving without insurance.

If the parents own the car they are responsible for insuring it.

Do you have uninsured or underinsured motorist insurance? Hopefully your insurance will pay to fix it and they will collect for you....

IF illegal goodluck trying to collect. I would first get a hold of your home onwers and auto insurance as you should have uninsured motorist to take care of the bike. The homeowners will take care of the house.

I would let the insurance companies fight it out to get the cost from him as it would be cheaper for you and that is what they have lawyers for. Aslong as nobody was hurt I wouldn't worry about getting a lawyer. UNLESS you don't have uninsured motorist for the bike.

G'Luck and hope EVERYTHING works out for ya QUICK.

Try to make sure that there isn't a clause in your insurance policy regarding where your bike is located when damage occurs on a non-riding accident. A friend of my who lives in Hobart, IN had a similar incident occur and his insurance company (don't know which one) wouldn't cover the damage to the bike because it wasn't stored in the garage. If he had just told the adjuster that the bike was in the garage when the accident occured he would have been covered totally. Instead he had to total a Vmax because he couldn't afford to have it rebuilt.

Just think, you COULD'VE beat the shit outta him and they would've thought it was from the accident....damn opportunity MISSED!

Homeowners should cover the bike as well, it was on your property at the time....plus, only ONE deductable.

I guess I'm missing something on the homeowners covering the bike. It was involved in a collision.....hence collision coverage applies.

Life is too short to ride anything but an R1

That sucks. The kid probably does speak english. He just decided not to thinking he could get away with more. My old landlord does that. You want something and you can't understand a word he is saying. He calls to pick up rent and he's a stinking english major. He even tried that in court too. Hope you get the money from the kids family.

If his poarrents had insurance on the car then it will be covered. The younger person that lived with me (parents called him my brother) stole my dads car when he was 12 and wrecked it into a light pole. it was all covered and my dadf got a new car. this kid will not be getting a license till hes 18 now.

So on that good news, by anychance did you have chrome rims and did they survive the accident?

That BLOWS big time! PLEASE get a copy of the police report and 1 tactic they try to use (defendant) is to get continuances until you do not show up and the tickets are thrown out. Follow up with the court dates as much as possible. Its a hassle i know but worth it in the end. Don't let the SOB get off too easy.

Then again his parents are probably LOADED and will buy you a new bike of your choice and throw in a track bike just to say they are sorry!

I once asked my state farm agent if the car in the garage ever got damaged by fire or theft would it be covered. They said no. Cars, motorcycles, or anything that could be on the road needs to have it's own insurance. Therefore homeowners insurance would not cover it.
