Best bank for on-line pay (checking account)

Iím looking for a good bank to open a checking account with, one that has a pretty good on-line bill pay and itís fast. And everything needs to be free, I donít like to pay fees for a checking account.

Iíve been at LaSalle bank forever and itís a good bank, but I just donít like their on-line bill pay.

Anyone here really happy with their bank and on-line bill pay?

You can park your cash in my account and I'm sure we'll figure something out

FWIW I've had pretty good luck with 5/3. I'm happy with the service & don't see fees. I do not use their online payment as often as I should though.

For some strange reason I still do it the old school way. I sit down once a month, pay all the bills, kill some stamps, balance the checkbook and take inventory of my fiscal situation.

Chase is pretty sweet.

Though, I have a mortgage with JP Morgan, so I get the premier checking account with interest and no penalties, free checks, etc...

I use a local bank, so that won't help much. But I hear that Chase is pretty good. i'm thinking of switching because i moved, and my local bank isn't so local anymore.

Citibank has a great online banking and bill pay. Very easy and clear cut. I pay everything though bill pay, from ComEd to Chrysler Financial to hookers.

I have Citibank as well, they are wonderful! Next up I would say Chase, I don't do on-line bill-pay with them, but did in the past and it was good... I have an ing account, but no experience with the bill-pay, but the interest rates are the best on the orange accounts.

Bottom of my list is Bank of America... They charge for EVERYTHING!

Citibank is excellent for online bill pay, all FREE. They even gave me a free iPod and $25 iTunes gift card. Their eSavings rocks too, I was getting 5% interest. Now it's down to 4.x% ... I may just open up another CD so I can get 5% again.

Chase sucks. They charge for everything. Cost me $8 just for deposit slips. WTF, I have to pay just to deposit my cash. Fock you!

Bankofamerica no question.

They have dumped ridiculous amounts of money on their system and after using other peoples online banking I am grateful for what I got!

its easy to transfer money between accounts, its easy to see payment history. see how long it takes for the checks to get there.

and the best thing....

keep the change savings.

if you spend. 3.45$ at a gas station you can have it put .55 cents into a savings account. Its a forced savings thats pretty awesome!

Let me know if you go Bank of america tho, I can give you a referral card and we both get $25.

Are you sure you've set it up right?

I have LaSalle and have never had a late payment unless I forgot to arrange the dates correctly - which I did once myself.

Otherwise it works great. Plus its free and no penalties.

+1

The only bill that takes 4 days is the US Dept of Education but thatís because they require some voodoo funk to go back and fourth between the bank & their office, everything else is same day or next day.

I have National City, and pay no fees with direct deposit. I also use their free online bill pay regularly. You can pay just about anything but taxes with the online bill pay. For some reason the gov't won't accept it or something.

I gave up on LaSalle when they started charging for teller visits and started carding me when I made deposits. Made no sense. Maybe their customer service has improved in the last few years.

I use snail mail for everything except ComEd. Should automate more.

With LaSalle, all my on-line bill payments take a minimum of 3 working days to get there, some take 4 days, so I hardy use it because I can go to my credit card sites and make a payment that will either be credited same day or next day.

I rather pay my bills using my banks on-line bill pay so I can keep track of my payments in one place.

So far I think Iíll either going to be Chase or Citibank

I'm talking about these days when I get up in the morning and realize that a bill is due THAT day or the next day, if that bill doesnít have itís own site that I can pay it on-line then Iím screwed since LaSalle takes 3 business days to process an on-line payment. I don't have it set up for automatic payments since every month I pay different amounts.

+1,
I have LaSalle and that completely sucks. I'm screwed when a big payment is due the same day I get paid since i have to send the payment at least 3 days before the due date. I end up transferring money from savings to cover it while its in LaSalle bank limbo and moving it back on my payday.

Also, Bank of America just acquired LaSalle, so who knows what that will mean with bill pay and fees. I'll wait to find out before I move to another bank.

I use PayTrust for all of my bills. It's not free, but it is inexpensive ($4.95/month + $0.50 per transaction OR $12.95/month for 30 FREE transactions).

What I like about them is that you get your own real mailing address (PO box) and they scan all the paper shit that arrives there and post it online into your inbox. Surely, you also can set up e-bills. This way (e-bills + paper), you can move all of your bills to one place.

You can set up automatic payments or pay manually. They cut checks several times a day (for those payees that don't have electronic payments) and, of course, online payments are instantaneous.

I've been using them for about a year and I'm quite happy. There was one problem that I couldn't figure out - I moved and didn't realize my Comcast account # was changed, so the payments were not coming through (they were posted to the old account #). Called PayTrust support, waited for like 1 minute and they figured it out momentarily.
