Sorry guys. That actually brings tears to my eyes.

Thanks once again to all who have served, and all who will serve.

I ALWAYS make it a habit when I see any men or women in uniform (or Vets) to go up to them, out of my way, and to PERSONALLY tell them "Thank you for your service".

I also do this...I figure its the very least I can do for those that have given their time and in some cases their lives to serve our country.

we had this letter posted at work a few days ago. a day later, we had a B2 fly over for the local fire department. i can't stand those that complain.

airfields of all sort receive 24/7 complaints about noise, it drives me insane! people don't realize how much airports assist their cities. there's more to it than just moving passengers. you can't just shut down fields and expect to move them elsewhere, it's just not that easy. my heart sank the morning i woke up and heard the news about meigs field. they are not a renewable resource.

i'm rambling...sorry!

It would be pretty cool to have F-16's flying over my house! I'd be out in the yard watching them, not bitching about it. A couple years ago a few of them flew right over me, really low, probably landing at Midway. It gave me goosebumps to see them that close, awesome. I live 2 miles from Midway, it was there before me. I've lived in this neighborhood for most of my life and you get so used to the noise you don't even notice it anymore.

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never under estimate your opponent (mentality). Expect the unexpected (could work out in your favor). Two, take it outside(or to a table). Never start anything inside the Bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

It was a simple/stupid mistake, and he owned up to it (and will probably be plauged by stupid calls for ages to come).

I am most definite that if there was ever a chance he could take back what he wrote it would be that. This event is a rarity though, usually only people that are close to large bases get full honors when they are deserving, or even partial honors for that manner.
We have vets all over the US and alot of them are laid to rest with a tape player playing TAPS or if they are lucky an electronic bugle, looks like a bugle but has a speaker in it and push a button and TAPS is played.

So here is a though, if you or anyone you know can play a trumpet or bugle go to your local VFW or Amercan Legion, or any Vet Service Orginization and volunteer your time if you have it, trust me it means alot to the family!!

Initial frustration might be understandable if you have no idea why jets are flying over your house. Seems that once he found out, he understood, and apologized. Nothing wrong with that.

Every vet is entitled to military burial, which includes the honor guard and the whole deal. Just an FYI

There are some differences on wether or not they get a drapped flag or just a folded one, if they get a gun salute. There are differences, I have a good friend who spent 3 years on funeral detail here at Great Lakes Naval Training Support Center. Yes every vet can receive honors, but there are different degrees.

The problem is, alot of Vets are dying and not anywhere near enough people that can provide the honors at the funeral that they are deserving of.

Simple mistake, when explained he manned-up and respectfully apologized.

Would only hope that those who piled on to bash him were as reasonable and mature in return.
