Traffic skool

So I got a ticket in my cage awhile back.. something insignificant.. like 20 over the limit. I had traffic school on the 7th of July and I had TOTALLY forgot about it. I was going through some old mail the other day and found the stupid slip.

Am I fucked?? I have a clean driving record otherwise. What can I do to fix this now?

I believe you are SOL at this point. It will go on your record. But it will go a way after a certain time frame as long as you don't get anymore.

Duh. Read the slip. I'll bet it says....

"Failure to appear will result in a conviction."

You're fucked! There's a warrant out for your arrest! You will get stopped for a routine traffic ticket and you'll get taken custody and shipped down to Jackson County jail in Murphysboro, IL where you will spend Thanksgiving weekend. You will sleep in cockroach infested cell with a half chinese half black man who's about 5'4 and 125lbs but has the voice of Barry White. Whenever a House of Pain video comes on, you and your new celly will jump up and down. You'll finally get to see the judge Monday morning and he will let you out on your own recognizance. The entire ordeal will cost you $2700.

Sometimes it doesn't even matter if you show up to court or not.

Back in the day I was pulled over for no front license plate and I like a idiot forgot to put my new insurance card in the car. So I had to go to court for that at the lovely facility on euclid. I show up bright and early and show the judge that my plate had fallen off and I fixed it and that I had insurance at the time of the stop. He was nice and threw out both.
......6 months go by

I get pulled over in Algonquin on the way to my second job and promptly got tossed in the back of the squad car for driving without a license and driving with suspended plates. As I sat there and watched as the cops searched my car I inquired into the nature of my pending arrest. Incidently the search was taking place because and I quote " Camaros always have drugs in them". So the officer proceeds to tell me that a court no show caused me to get my license and plates suspended. This of course happened on Sunday so I couldn't fix anything with the state. I get bailed out and begin the 9 month ordeal to straighten this out.

I first go to the lovely euclid facility to discover my paper work wasn't filed and the paperwork for one of the charges was lost. A judge had to validate the ruling and note the system that I was present on my court date. This however only fixed the court record not the state record. To fix this I had to go to two facilites downtown that I had never even heard of. Of course during this I still can't drive so a buddy had to take me. I get that straightened out but I still have my court date in WOODSTOCK for the arrest.

Of course since driving without a license is a very serious offence the judge won't let me just explain. I need a lawyer...so I get the public defender who is not really paying attention. so the thing goes to trial finally at trial the PD starts paying attention and gets it thrown out....4 court dates 5 days off work and 9 months later.

conviction goes away in three years.

So it could be worse I guess lol

True story.....

walked into the cell block, placed the blanket and pillow in the cell walked back out. The cell door closed. Sat down. A big ass brotha straight out of a 70's gangsta movie walks toward me. I'm thinking, oh shit.. I'm gonna have to box this dude or I'm fucked. He walks up and asks... "whatchoo in fo?" I tell him what it was. He asks "you study the arts?" I say.. yeah. He says.. "coo! if anything goes down.. I'm wit choo!"

Your not screwed, but it will cost you money and a court appearance. Phone the court clerk, saying you request traffic school, and you have been waiting paticently for your notification. She look it up, and say you were convicted, you want to protest because you never received a notification, how do I do that? She will tell you...it will cost @$85, but that is cheaper than a conviction.

Sometimes goodbye is your second chance.
