Anyone knows DOT requirments for Motorcycles?

What exactly is required to make a bike street lrgal in way of lights? If i ride during the day, Must i have a headlight? I know older bikes have headlights but arn;t one during the day.

I want to ride my trackbike every once and a while on the street. The brake light and rear turn signals are no problem hooking up with my solo tail. It's the front turn sigs and headlight that might need some attention.

Like i said before, if i only ride during the day, do I have to have a headlight?

if so...here are 2 poss i was thinking...get the slimmest driving /fog light (rally, piaa etc) and mount it uner the nose between the front fender and nose.

Front signals....i thought i saw LP had a set of flush mounts that actually just attached by 3m double sided tape. use this to attach to the fairing and run the wires along the side to hook up to the stock wires.

any thoughts?

You are supposed to have qa headlight on at all times in this country. Thats why all bikes now a days come with no switch to turn it off. I would definitly go with some sort of driving lite and make it quick release. and turn signals also need to be on there. I think at least one mirror is also a law.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

I had those on my Busa. they did work but were not very bright at all. could barley see them during the day.

In Illinois, bikes are required to have a headlight and taillight. Thats it. Turn signals are not required - hand signals are sufficient. On my last 3 bikes I integrated the rear turn signals into the taillight, never had a problem except my friends riding behind me when I make a quick turn. Here's a link to the Illinois vehicle code

Thanx for the link and info......

So i DO need the light at all times...now just finding the slimmest one that can be seen from 500 ft away. and one that doesn't interfer with the nose dive under braking.

A street legal motorcycle needs to have mirrors too.

How do you turn this thing on?
