So Pissed At Microcenter

I hope none of you guys bought a warranty with your xbox.

I was told that its the same as best buy "So i can just swap out my xbox when it fails?"

I go in today to go get it swapped and they tell me that its only functional AFTER microsofts three year warranty.

So I have to send in my box wait 6 weeks for it to come back any time I have an issue.

And then after three years I can use their garbage warranty.

Tomorrow I will give them a hell storm and demand a refund from corporate.

No more shopping at microcenter for me!

Which actual plan did you buy? Some of theirs start on day one of your purchase, others do kick in AFTER the shortest period of the manufacturer's warranty.

Perhaps they were looking at the wrong specs or perhaps someone signed you up for the wrong one.

A brief overview of what they offer:

https://www.microcenter.com/help/protection_plans.html

Was this the one?

1 & 2-Year Micro Center Peripheral Replacement Plan

• Peripheral Replacement Plans cover most crucial hardware under $500 including PDAs, scanners, digital cameras, video hardware, keyboards, mice and joysticks, CD-ROM drives, surge devices, speakers, expansion cards, PCMCIA cards, multimedia devices printers and more
Coverage on all Replacement Plans begins upon expiration of the shortest portion of the manufacturer's parts and labor warranty, and is limited to one replacement during the term of the plan.
• 24/7 Toll-free tech support
• Technical hardware support
• The program is fully insured for your protection
• All Peripheral Replacement Plans exclude coverage for CPUs, laptops, LCD and plasma TVs and consumables

*OR*

1 & 2-Year Micro Center Bronze Extended Protection Plans:

Coverage begins upon expiration of the shortest portion of the manufacturer’s warranty
• Nationwide network of carry-in service centers
• 24/7 toll-free tech support
• Technical hardware support
• No lemon guarantee
• The program is fully insured for your protection
• No deductibles
• Transferable to new owner free of charge
• Renewable

They do offer the prime one though:

3-Year Micro Center Silver & Platinum On-Site/Express Shipping Protection Plans

The 3 year Silver and Platinum Desktop plans start from day one of your system or equipment purchase; they extend the protection of the manufacturer’s warranty to cover on-site or shipping costs for mail-in repairs. These plans are valid on an individual product or system.

Regardless.. shitty miscommunication to mislead a customer.

Everyone Exaggerates

Sorry man..

Unfortunately all you'll get from corp is lip-service about how they'll beef up training of the on-floor associates; blah blah blah.

Personally, I would keep stressing how I felt misled by their employee and obviously feel more confident sending people across town to Fry's for electronics rather than Microcenter unless of course they want to make this particular situation right.... then pause and wait for them to make the next move. nothing to lose...

Already fell off the mountain.. might as well try to fly

I almost got a job there. Got called in for the first interview but they never called me back for a 2nd one. I worked at CompUSA for a while before the stores in Chicago closed. Sold a crap load of warranties while I was there. The CompUSA warranty kicks in at the time of purchase and you get a new one if anything happens to your if you buy a replacement plan.

Screw that shit. Well actually I'm trying to a get a job on campus where you just sit in a computer lab and help people with their problems. I hear the job is pretty easy and you don't do any work. You also get a computer.

Micro nuts

They're always over priced anyways. They've gone down to me. I was always going to Fry's or the Micro outside of Chi. They were more friendly and their place was even cleaner!

Some of the employees at the Micro in Chicago look like they are straight out of the hood. Not sure why they decided not to hire me, maybe I wasn't hood enough for them.

I don't know what you mean about hood. When I was there (which was often because they were so close to me) I just noticed there were new faces all the time. Usually young and seemly unknowing of computer stuff. They kept no one. Not even management. Got to a point I just made sure I knew what I wanted, howl much it should cost and just purchased it from them if I just had to have it.

I suppose it could be worse...wasn't the original warranty only 1 year? I thought it's only 3 years because MS had so many issues with it that they extended it out another 2 years. Your store warranty on top of that is icing.

Get out of your house and go visit Biggy, Kruz or rdrash (or any of the other guys) and play them in person rather than on xbox live

No wonder you haven't been online for a while. It was strange during that one game you hosted. We saw your name there, we could talk to everyone in the room except you, we chatted for a bit and then it looked like you were changing maps and then just killed the server.
