Energy drinks = BS

Looks like they really don't give you any more boost than a cup of java. In some cases they give you less.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070806/...nergydrinks_dc
I never really got hyper from any of them anyhow and figured this long ago. Will admit that those extra ingredients like taurine and other stuff seemed to help me concentrate better if drank right before a test when I went to college at night.

I'm not surprised....all the information is on the side of the can. The "wings" you feel is just a sugar and caffeine "high". In college (early 70's) we use to make our own "energy" drink....cold coffee, honey and liquid ginseng. The debate still rages over the actually effects of ginseng, but it seems to improve memory and physical stamina.

Sometimes goodbye is your second chance.

This report solely compares caffeine quantities in energy drinks to coffee, it does not account for any of the "vitamins and minerals". MG of Caffeine is a poor way of quantifying energy boost. Personally I drink running 2 miles every other day and eat fruits and veggies for energy.

The only drinks that ever gave me energy were the ones with Ephedra. And those are pretty much non-existant now....

I like Red Bull and when I drink it I get super hyper... but I only drink them every once in a while and I don't drink coffee and very rarely drink pop or any other caffeinated drinks...

best energy drink I've had would be NO-EXPLOAD...it is a drink but you have to mix it

seriously though, at school (wiu) I found a drink called "NOS" in the cafeteria and I really enjoyed it.

oh and 5 Hour Energy shots are great as well....no crash!

When I need a pick me up or before I play a softball game I have a Mt. Dew. It works great. I used to get a Mocha Frap from Starbucks, but that filled me up too much.

I didn't say it was replacing a proper diet.. This is why they are called 'supplements'.

Quite a few years ago I gave up anything that was made with high fructose corn syrup, and to this day don't like the amount of sugar in soda and most drinks. Even worse if it's fake sugar. I'll still drink it here and there, and a Red Bull did wake me up once on a long motorbike trip in a pinch, but I think all the energy drinks taste terrible. Blech.

I'll have to try this concoction of cold coffee, honey and ginseng, although maybe it'll have to be with tea since I'm trying to shift myself off of coffee. Had a good tea habit going for a while and still have some very nice green and white teas. Arch, it's funny that you mention multi-vits. Got back on that path just a few days ago along with a joint support supplement.

The cheapest and best route for fast energy is to go get a few packs of caffeine pills. No reason you can't pop one every now and then. But those are only useful if you truly are only interested in a boost without intaking a sugar loaded drink or chugging a cup of coffee.
