Driving to Davenport, IA from Western Burbs

Had to drive to Milwaukee yesterday and the construction and traffic was a BITCH!! I want to avoid any construction, so what would you take to get out to Davenport, IA? Would you take I88 or I80?

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

88... smooth... did it 2 weeks ago. Only construction then was right where 88 and 80 come together east of Moline...

88 -> 80 West, and swing around Davenport and come in on I-74 or Brady Street (67) off the north side of Davenport.... It's the quickest route.

Where do you need to be in the city.. there may be another option, (like river drive after crossing 80 on the north/east to hit Bettendorf, or come in through middle road, etc) but I mostly hit around St. Ambrose College area on Locust street and for the past 9 years that's been the fastest way yet.

Much appreciated.

Fuzz activity has been very hit or miss. I've not been finding them sitting looking for speeders, and on several round trips I have not seen a single one, even around Sterling/Rock Falls (very out of the ordinary for that speed trap).. I take that back.. one sitting waiting to snag people crossing the Rock River right before 30 on the west side of sterling/rock falls.. nails you when it's too late crossing that bridge. can't see him until you are right on top of him

UPDATE:

Depending on time of day you might encounter a slowdown w/ installation of the cable barriers.

Seems to have happened right after my last trip through there.

I go thru DAV pretty regularly... 88 is my choice. SBUX at the DeKalb Oasis and then Culvers and/or the Harley dealer in Rock Falls to break it up a bit.
