My Dog was Attacked

I was out in the courtyard here at our apartments working with Chase on obedience when out of nowhere a lady's dog got loose and attacked him. I saw her come out with her dog and then turned my back and a few seconds after that her dog jumped on mine. The dog was growling and biting him and he was yelping b/c it hurt. I had to kick the other dog to separate them. The dogs dumb owner didn't even run over when the dog got loose to help separate them. I called carol stream pd and the community service officer is going to call me tomorrow with an update b/c she is still trying to find the owner and dog. She told me that she knows of the owner. We'll se what happens hopefully eviction or confiscation of the dog b/c there are alot of kids that play out in the courtyard and my wife is pregnant.

Glad to hear he's alright. I'd still take him to the vet and let the vet know what happened. I dunno about dogs biting dogs, but if a dog bites a person and you go to the doctor, in the state of IL it must be recorded to the police.

Man that sucks. Hope your boy is ok.

Tyson was really timid of other dogs when he was a baby, if they even got near him he would squeal like he was getting his ears yanked off. Hopefully yours was just scared more than hurt.

Off topic-

lemme know the next time you're taking him to swim, I'd like Tyson to tag along to see if he'll swim.

Sounds like my wife's dog. She'll growl, bark and get vicious with any dog a lot bigger than her. Good thing she's only 9 pounds and always on a leash.

Little dog syndrome. Though I do have a good laugh when my wife's Chihuahua makes German Shepards, labs, boxers, even the pitbull across the street piss themselves in the middle of the street.

they have a giant rottweiler stuffed animal thats like 4ft big, and this lil pincher humps the shit out of it and has torn it to bits and still humps it some more afterwards, the lil necrophiliac. the thing aint right in the head. it bites at your ankles and tears at your jeans and if you act like a bitch around it, which i whole heartedly do cause the thing wants to rip my balls off, it knows youre afraid and even pushes you around more.

Wow, I hate that thing too and I've never met it.

If a stranger comes to the house, my wife's dog lays on her back expecting you to rub her belly. She'll the proceed to follow you wherever you go doing the same thing.

At a dog walking park by my house the other day and the same thing there too. Me and my wife were there with our two Cane Corso mastiffs which we keep on leashes when other dogs are around just in case. They are big at 100 lbs+ and friendly as hell but scare the crap out of people when they run up to them. Some dude with tattoos and piercings with his pitbull let his dog run over to us and attack one of mine and he didn't do anything. I let his leash go and they started to fight and told my wife to let the other one go too. After they had the pitbull pinned and by the neck the guy started running over all of a sudden realizing his dog was going to be the one getting hurt this time. Some people are just retarded and must have insecurity issues or something.

My rottweiler was attacked once when he was a three month old puppy. Neighbor's German shepherd mix got loose, came into my back yard and bit my boy in the butt. Focker came out of nowhere and surprised us all. My brother chased it away after striking it with a bat, much to the owner's delight.

Anyway, check your dog real close for puncture wounds to the skin. I took my rott to the vet after seeing a few light puncture marks. He got a shot and the cut still got infected. I was cleaning out his wound for a few weeks with Neopsorin but he made a full recovery.

There is a great dog park off of frontage and Caton Farm on the Plainfield/Joliet border. Friends of mine live in the houses behind there. We take their lab and my Dobes. They also have a great lake (although not fenced) which is spring fed. Lots of dogs go swimming there.

Any affects on his behavior around other dogs or people. That is what I'm afraid of, that it will develop into something. I guess I better watch more dog whisperer

Ironically, my Shepard mix was attacked by a Rott and my dog was in bad shape. My brother was walking him and was knocked over by the Rott as it attacked my dog. The Rott wouldn't let go so my brother threw my dogs leash around the Rotts neck and choked it until it let go. Of course the owner didn't want to take responsibility and the cops didn't pursue it. That's until the Rott got loose and made its way onto the grammer school playground during lunchtime. They took the dog.

I blame the owner not the dog.

No affects that I noticed. My rott is still very sociable around other dogs and he really loves kids. My dog has never been aggressive towards other dogs so no change there.

It's always the owner. If you train a dog to fight it will, and if you socialize it properly it will be friendly. It can still be trained to be protective yet friendly also. One of my dogs was a little nippy when we got her at a year old and she would never even think of even growling at anyone now because she would get beat and she knows it. If the owner doesn't discipline the dog it will revert to it's natural instinct. It needs to know who's boss.
