Suggestions, Suggestions...

I got the siding swapped out, the roof is coming in a week. Now I want to see what suggestions you guys have for things I should do to the house.

I already attempted powdercoating it. But I ran out of electrical cord.

We need to get dirt next year to try to level the lawn on the right side.

I am going to see about a new garage door asap. Doorman is checking things for me.

The roof is a red now, its going to a light light brown/wood.

Thoughts? tips, advice, Anything you got. post up!!

Are you replacing the roof or just 'coloring' (?) it???

How's the stuff inside the house? Age/condition of water heater, furnace, ac, etc?

the roof is getting replaced next week.
we are looking at "aged wood"

(roofing from Tamko, http://www.tamko.com/ProductDisplayT...0/Default.aspx heritage 30 series)

Water heater, furnace, ac are all original from 88, thats next years mod.
This year was roof and siding since insurance is covering it.

pshopped it on.

You won't get shit back in this market anytime soon anyways unless you bought from a hell of a motivated seller to begin with.

Depending on where MVHS ends up getting built these upgrades may or may not be worth it in the short term. I'm not sure how long you plan on staying there, but that decision yet to be made is going to cause some impact on prices in some neighborhoods as some pretty passionate people take action on either moving to or out of an area if the boundary and HS location do not favor well for their area.

If you're in it for the long haul, definitely go for everything mentioned so far.

Get rid of the riced out Eclipse and sell it to me at a steal. That first garage door is the exact one I got. White and all with the super R-14 insulation.

ja, well the roof is happening no matter what, the insurance paid me and i have a contract to have it done and both the insurance adjuster and contractor believe (in addition with me) that its going to break next year.

the "aged wood" is just a color choice.
(less you guys have another color idea!!)

Yea, the driveway has to go. looks so nasssty to me. imo. If I remember right cerk is going to be the man for that.

and the flooring is wood thankfully right now, I would like to get a new kitchen but the wife is a pita...

Are you doing the upgrades just for you or to be able to sell the house soon??

Definitely agree with everyone about the driveway and improving the landscaping. I'm thinking you could update your front door too. It's too dark and you need something lighter and brighter to match the house.

stained cement can be made to look like anything, pavers, tiles, slate, whatever. it looks badass, no weeds since no cracks, and cheaper. it's truly pimp, more money but pimp.

The bushes in front of the bay window need to be thicker and more uniform. They look like they are spaced unevenly. Plant some colorful annuals in front of them for a little bit of color.

The bushes along the walkway are too big for the space and need to be removed and replaced with a colorful garden. You can plant some hostas or daylilly's and then fill the space in with some more colorful annuals.

The two bushes on either side of the garage need to be removed or replaced with a shorter bush.

Along the side of the garage (near the fence) you should just plant simple easy plants... maybe something like a purple velvet plant.

Hosta's

Daylilly's

Purple Velvet

One of the things I did this summer before I started my landscaping was to walk around my neighborhood and take pictures of the landscaping I liked for inspiration.

I have no idea about what plants are called, etc.

the bushes on the sides of the garage were SOOO bad when we moved in... the one on the right side COVERED that sidewalk!!!

it died, now we need to learn how the heck you remove those thigns.

Thank you again!! I might have to photoshop in some of those plants and see how it looks.

I had 10 of those bushes between my front and back yard and I trimmed off all the branches and then dug up the roots... It was a royal pain in the ass but it was free.

I would remove the bushes all together. Cut them down and rent a stump grinder, you'll be done in a few hours. I would replace them with some tall prarie grasses. They are way easier to maintain, wont take over your walkway, and add a mix of annuals and perrenials for color as suggested ealier. Trim back the trees on the right corner, out from in front of the window and away from the roof. Squirrels and racoons can use them to get on your roof and possibly in your attic. Get a new front door, maybe something with stained glass, and replace the lighting. I wouldnt replace the drive(but ditch the DSM), sealcoat it in the spring. I think the garage with square windows looks better, it fits the lines of the house better.

I just need to combine all the ideas and develop a plan

They finished the roof today!

Aged wood was my final choice on the color.

Now I just need to get the new door.
