Message from Paul

Hi, this is not Paul, but I was asked to go home and leave a message for you all. Paul was taken to the hospital due to an alergic reaction to new pain pills he was put on today. He was taken to the hospital at 5:00pm after falling unconscious while at the library. None of us were notified until about 10:00pm as he did not have his cell phone on him at the time.

He is going home Sunday. I was just in with him and he wanted me to notify folks as he was supposed to meet many of you somewhere Saturday. He was in ICU until about one hour ago and is doing much better now. I am unsure of the pain pill he was taking, but I do know it was new and today was the first day he was taking them.

He will contact people when he is home.
Thank you.

Damn, best wishes. Hope he's up and about again soon. Allergic reactions can be really scary.

Hello all. I am home now. The story is a bit different than mentioned above. You gotta love younger brothers..

Here is the story.
Saturday was a busy day filled with a lot of running around and not enough eating. At the same time, I am taking pain meds and a new med for my lung problem. While at the library, I started getting extremely dizzy and literally passed out at a desk near one of the aisles. I remember waking up, barely able to breath in the ambulance. Must have been quite a commotion in the library but the paramedic assured me they came up a back way and tried to attract as little attention as possible.

I explain to the paramedic all that has gone on with me over the past 7 weeks while having a terrible time keeping my breath. I get to the ER and am immediately plugged with a breathing device and IV. I started feeling every sensation about 10 fold. I felt like I was freezing, too. Shaking very heavily.

Since I was in the library, I left my cell phone in the car which is where it was this whole ordeal. I only have about three numbers for people memorized and none of them got a hold of anyone. So, they sent a police officer to go to my car and get my cell phone. After that was brought, the nurse was able to get a hold of people for me.

I was pulled out of ICU some time around midnight I think. I was feeling 70% better by then and as every hour went along, I felt FAR better and was able to breath well enough to sleep. I am home now, resting. It was scary as hell to go through that. The feeling of everything coming on was like a wave of freezing air taking all the wind out of me.

So, anyways. I apologize for not making my own "glad you are ok" party but I wasn't ok LOL. Hopefully you guys had a good time. I will be going back to work on Monday after I see my primary care doctor tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Bummer Paul. There's so much more to recovery from serious injury than many people realize.

Well at least we have an excuse to go to Lou's again . Sounds like some scary business for you yesterday Paul, hope your out of the woods now and feeling ok. Keep us posted on how you're doing when you can. Take care of yourself. Cerk is right about recovering from nasty injuries. Maybe sometime in December we can try again? If it makes you feel any better we had a really good turnout.

Thanks for the concern all. I am definitely doing better today and am getting my appetite back finally.

I also received a message from a member, and an e-mail from another, regarding at least one post made by my brother using my account here on the message board yesterday. One of which some time during the dinner party at Lou Malnati's. I apologize for that. Michael mentioned it to me last night and I told him to remove any posts he made, other than the one I asked him to post regarding what was happening with me. He was with me most of the day and I assumed he was using his own account when, in reality, he was using mine. Turns out he doesn't have his own and has always browsed using mine - which I didn't know. I talked to him about it. From what it "sounds" like, he was trying to get on the board to post what was going on since he knew there was an event I was to attend. Rather than stick with the mission, he decided to post a reply to one of the threads since he was with me. Logic? No. He knows better now. He said he didn't think it was a big deal but I explained that I get personal messages and, in this case, it caused confusion.

He now must log onto my home PC with his own profile. It's not the first time he has accessed my stuff. No bad intent, but you don't want to know who has gotten e-mails from my e-mail account he sent throwing people into a state of confusion. Should be resolved now

Sorry guys.

its all good, the important part is that you are alive and getting better.

Bummer about last night and with all the joking around that we did, it sat in the back of my mind that something was wrong, made a comment to Shelly and a couple others about it and even to the wife, still had a good time and will definitly do it again sometime, only with you there.

I make motion, we don't try this again until Paul can be there and then at which point if he doesn't show up we are sending out a search and rescue party.
