I finally got a Bump!!!!

Not the NESBA bump, but the airlines bump. I always sign up on the waiting list when they ask, but I never got asked to take a bump. I did this time. So I'm stuck at Ohare waiting around catching up on work for a few hours, but I got a free roundtrip ticket anywhere in the us. Sounds like time to plan a ski trip.

I want to do summit county again. Maybe over new years if I can find someone to come with.

I do get a seat, no restrictions except 48 states thing and I don't accrue mileage for miles plus. Good deal for a 4 hour delay, plus I'm getting a lot of work done.

I used to do that all the time until I started traveling so much....now my attitude is "goddammit get me HOME!" The last time I got that offer they wanted to shuttle me with 20 other people from Reagan to Dulles at 5pm (rush hour) and then get me a coach seat on a plane to Dallas at 11pm, arriving in san antonio around 2am. NO THANK YOU.
I love the perks, but I hate traveling for work.

My attitude is I don't want to go...but if I have to, I might as well skip out in this ghey dinner and get a free flight.

I have season 3 of entourage waiting in my laptop dvd player and now I'm going to relax in first class and get hammered.

This situation makes me think of "The Terminal" movie with Tom Hanks.

I actually did that in October. I got to Dallas and then my flights kept getting pushed back then cancelled....until they finally said my flight would land in Baltimore at 3am. I said "no thanks just send me back to San Antonio" and I told my boss and my client that I just simply was not going to do it. I even got my money refunded from American-- I said "I am traveling for business and my 9am Monday flight should have been more than ample time to get me to an 8am Tuesday meeting. Your delays made me unable to conduct my business."
I got a standby flight to San Antonio and went hime-- and the thing that I loved....the standby list had (no shit) 117 people on it. I put my name on the list and was #5. I get to the gate and there's all these exhausted families...and I bypass it all and sit down in first class For me, the perk of traveling so much is knowing that when push come to shove, you do get treated better than the rest of the travelers. It sucks for those who don't fly often, but really most of me doesn't care.

Hopefully the voucher isn't full of restrictions. Nice, though Rob. Since airfare prices keep climbing getting that voucher probably will save you $500-$600 depending on your destination.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I know people that haven't paid for airfare in years just by getting bumpped.

When ever they travel they allow extra time to get bummped so that way they get the travel vouchers, most of the time they are getting bummped from a seat using one travel voucher just to get another one. I've never been able to do this with my travels in the Navy but now that I am almost out will look into doing this when ever I travel.

For $7.95 + S&H, you could even give her a token of your time together:
