As a former employee of Sterling Jewelers, Inc. The parent company of Kay, J.B. Robinson, Jared and a boatload of other companies that most of you have never heard of, I can say that you get a great deal of service for the money. As far as prices are concerned, they aren't as cheap as someone down on jewelers row, but they will stand by their product for years to come and should anything go wrong with the jewelry, getting it fixed is not an issue so long as you go through the proper channels.

I was with them for 4 years, had my ups and downs with the company, but they treated me very well and sell quality products and fair prices.

I must admit, every time I hear a Jared commercial I want to murder someone, this isn't a good enough reason not to shop there though.

Like I've said before, Jewelry is a scam. Diamonds are expensive cause they are rare right? Bullshit, there's 2 or 3 jewelry stores in every small town in America and just as many jewelry stores as there are Pharmacies in big cities, maybe even more. Buy that logic you should be paying for an advil, by the caret

Diamonds are a scam, though we still "have" to buy them due to some brilliant marketing aimed at women.

However they are inherently worthless (for numerous reasons). To be worth something you have be able to sell them. Good luck finding a buyer willing to pay more than 10-20% of the cheapest retail prices you see.

Neat article: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/198202/diamond

ps: If you are buying from any of the above companies you are getting ripped off unless you need someone to hold your hand through the selling process. Its nice but not worth 20% of your purchase price

Nice conclusion there Arch

Seriously, the only reason diamonds are expensive are because they horde them in Antwerp and London and slowly release them to control the high prices, just like oil...

Call them a scam, but it's just taking capitalism to the extreme.

Get someone to pay FAR MORE for something than what it's really worth, and call it 'profit'.

It's all great when you're the one making the money and not the one getting fucked over.

They have different 'worth' to different people.
