The Pup

So I got my yellow lab last night, 8 weeks. so pretty much since last night ive gotten about 2-3 hours of sleep between 4am-7am. i think im losing more of my hair. im exhausted and full of anxiety from puppy whining and taking it out every 1-2 hours to piss. but hes cute.

Some pics, his i named him "Rowdy" after the dog on SCRUBS

Full Gallery

my only wish was that this young boy would quit chewing on the crate metal bars. ive got a rope in there, a kong filled with treats and peanut butter, and a tennis ball. along with a blanket i rubbed on the mother dog, and the tshirt i wore. but all he does is whine. he hates the crate and everytime he whines i fall for it and open it up. that shit needs to stop my eyes are bloodshot

so this is what a baby is like hm?

Pink sheets and zebra comforter?

Nice looking dog though. Too bad that is the only kind of dog I am really, really allergic too or I would get one.

i am a vet tech student and we just had a whole 2 weeks on behavior lol its prolly mostly just puppy being a puppy, but maybe some seperation anxiety w being in the crate??? Try putting him in there for a couple minutes then let him out and praise and reward him expecially if he was quiet.....just to reassure him every time he goes in there he will be let out and the less of a deal you make it the less he will think of it. congrats on the new baby hes adorable and good job with the blanket and the shirt that you wore. Enjoy the little guy loll he wont be little for long

Also, at some point, for a period of time, take away the water. It will compartmentalize when the pissing happens.

oh thats been tried. but theres not much to play outside other than me running around the yard and him chasing. its really hard for me to wear him out right now. he sleeps like an hour at the most. and by the time im trying to fall asleep he wakes back up and im there for the next round.

yea but im having a hard time distinguishing if he has to pee/poop or if hes just throwing a hissy fit. i just put him in the cage now and he finally is i think tryin to sleep it out, but i put some treats in there to try to make the cage a "positive experience" but im sure hell wake up in 30-60 minutes to go bathroom or play again.

Don't procreate if you think a puppy is tough.

I told you about the separation anxiety thing, not only from you, but from his litter mates and mom.

How was he acting around the litter mates and mom? Curious? Brave? Timid? This can say a lot on how they will be later in life....

Waking up constantly is normal, his bladder will grow within the next few weeks allowing you a few more hours of sleep.

oh, and congrats and such....
