Talking Update on the whole email address thing!!

Okay, well still no email for my dad....BUT, I found more important things IMO. In googling and doing some detective work I found out that the obituary I found was indeed my grandfather.

HOWEVER, they listed the grandchildren in the obit, 2 being my half brother and half sister. My sister is only 15, and my brother is 24. I found both on myspace, of course her page was private, but his wasn't. I messaged him yesterday, and he replied. He said that my dad never mentioned me and he had no idea that he had an older sister (I'm the oldest grandchild on their side). He was pretty much in shock, but was really happy that I found him. He said that him and our dad don't talk much, and don't have a close relationship, surprise surprise! Anyway, he was going out of town for the weekend and when he gets back tomorrow we are going to talk. I'm really excited! I really hope he has a picture of the family. This is so crazy, and I still can't believe I have a brother who is only 2 yrs younger then me, I'm really happy that I started actively searching for the other side of my family. It is like missing parts of puzzle, you know that there are other pieces but not knowing where they are is frustrating! Hopefully I'll soon have a lot of my unanswered questions answered that I never asked when I was 16 and my dad and I talked on the phone, well, I was only 16 and nieve.

Just thought I would share, because it seems like there are a lot of people on here who are going through or went through a very similar situation.

It's nice to hear you are making progress in the direction you were hoping.

Just be careful w/ the questions you ask because sometimes the answers are not what the asker wants to hear nor is the person being questioned under obligation to answer...

As a sidebar from that, I hope you and your new found brother can swap / share information to fill in the rest; if they're up for it.

For sure. I'm not going to ask him many questions. I was talking about when I finally get the chance to talk to my dad, because I'm sure he (my brother) will have email address, cell ph #, something. I just want to get to know my brother and have a relationship with him, not put him under interrogation!

I was actually referring to your Dad when I mentioned being prepared for answers you might not want to hear or the fact that he might not want to answer your questions.

I've seen this scenario go great, and I've seen it be devastating. Naturally, I hope and pray yours will be the former and not the latter.

I'm glad things are working out thus far. Wouldn't it be just freaky if he was into motorcycles too . I hope the good news continues to flow .
