i got her home, she fell in love with us, and so did we. stone was good with her when they met so i know there ok.

the ride home was quite and we are cleaning all her stuff and stone is getting a work out running around. boy o boy, all over again. teaching not to bite, commands, potty etc.

congrats on the new pup. if anyone wants to adopt pitbull pups I know where they can get them for free too. just let me know. Just make sure it's what you really want, because if you take them to a shelter when they are older it is pretty much a death sentence.

Another great dog is a staffordshire terrior. I would love to have one, but my two Boston Terriors are a handful already.

Are you talking an American Staffordshire Terrier (which is esentially known as a pit bull) or a staffordshire Bull Terrier (looks like a tiny pit bull, but more bullish).

I would argue the difference between American pit bull terrier and American Staffordshire terrier more than just akc or ukc, but at any rate I think she's talking about the Staffordshire bull terrier

Truthfully, you probably know more about the difference than I do. I know some history on origins on Staffie's but know little in regard to the split between to the APBT and the AST. I know that American Staffordshire Terrier breeders would rather die than have their dogs called pit bulls, however they acknowI am an AKC person...it's the venue I show in and compete in performance events. My experience in UKC is very limited.

The three “pit bull” breeds all have nearly identical standards, with only the acceptable sizes and colors varying. Also, the AST and the APBT have the same heritage. Many people still consider them to be simply different types of the same breed. Dogs registered with the UKC as an APBT are often dual registered with the AKC as an AST. Adding to the muddle is the fact that many people refer to any dog of these breeds, as well as American Bulldogs and sometimes Bull Terriers, as “pit bulls.” There are actually twenty or more breeds that can easily be mistaken for a pit bull. American Pit Bull Terriers are a working breed, and American Staffordshire Terriers share their heritage until the 1960s, when the breeds split into two. The only difference is that the AST is the show strand and tend to be bigger and more 'pet'-looking than the APBT, since they don't retain much of the working attributes of the APBT

#1, or should i say 2. My wife and i also have to Boston Terriors, We would never switch breeds. these dogs are so damn smart and full of nothing but muscle and love to give.

Congrats Odyssey, Great job finding a home! About 5 million dogs and cats are put down every year so one more to a good home is a good thing.

Just a reminder when looking to find homes for dogs or cats. Outside of this website, it is not recommended to post any animal as free. There are many people out there who take them and sell them to test labs or use them to train fighting dogs. Putting in the $100 fee for this dog is a good way to see if the buyer is planning on keeping the dog.
