An example of how I got my name.

For those that are interested.

Track bike project - 96' Suzuki GSX-R 750

My track bike project is coming along rather nicely. Since I started the project, it has gone a totally different direction than I had originally planned. I was going to put the front race plastics I already had on the bike. Then replace the forks, head bearings, swing-arm bearings, rebuild/replace the brake systems, coils and put in my second motor that is mostly stock.

Now here is where I am at... I bought a set of forks about a month ago, but now they are for sale. I found an upgraded set that are actually for my bike. They already have Lindemann internals so I couldn't pass them up. I have sent them to Lindemann for a rebuild, re-spring and have them tuned to my weight/usage. I bought an Ohlin's rear shock and that has been sent to Lindemann for the same work as the fork. I can not wait to ride good suspension, I have never had that chance. I have not yet bought the head bearings or the swing-arm bearings. Those will have to be at tax time.

Then I came across a good deal on some excellent condition Yoshimura rear sets. This is the first "barely justifiable" purchase. Then I got a Woodcraft stator cover, Woodcraft starter cover, Factory pro "race kit" jet kit, Factory shift kit and an ignition timing advancer. Then I fell into a "new, in the package" Yoshimura race wire harness and Yoshimura race coil packs. The guy thinks he also has the Yoshimura CDI box, but he has to check.

I am now looking for Full exhaust, "superbike" tail, clip-on's, clutch perch, Brake rotors(I think I found these), chain/sprockets, Yoshimura tach, head/swing-arm bearings, etc.
I also need a helmet, leathers(1pc), gloves, boots and back protector.

This project is spiraling out of control, is there such a thing a "sportbiker anonymous". If there is I think I will need to join before this project gets too much farther. LOL This is how all my project go... A simple idea turns into a complicated one.

I will continue posting my project details as I go. Sorry, I don't have a camera yet, but I will post pictures eventually, Squirrel

Any project bike always spirals out of control. Before you know it, you'll have a bike where the parts are worth more separately than the bike is worth as a whole.

It is almost ALWAYS far cheaper and far better to buy a race-prepped bike than it is to build one. My porject bike is approaching race-prepped pricing and I got the bike for a steal of a deal as well. Still... race parts are not cheap (even on eBay)

The stupid part of this whole project is that I have never been on the track before!

People will tell you cocaine or crack is addictive. They lie! Track days are what is really addictive.
