It took me about 2 months to renew my passport. I had it done about 3 months ago.

I heard it does take a while. I had mine renewed back in summer of 2006 and it didn't take that long, though I heard it takes a lot longer now.

it's only when you don't care that it happens fast

I sent mine in for renewal and it came back in two weeks. No express fee. I was quite surprised

Me and my girlfriend just got one. I expedited mine. She actually got hers quicker because when you expedite you have to sign for it. noone was ever home to sign so I had to wait then go to the post office to get it. Hers came in the mail. Moral is don't expedite and it took 1 week. We applied 2 wks ago.

I think it varies for unknown reasons. My mom and I applied for it on almost the same day, I got mine a couple weeks before she did. If you need it in March you should get it no problem

I applied for my passport right before Halloween this year. It took 3 weeks to get it back and that is without the express service.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I've noticed that too.

I ordered mine last year in Feb before my trip to the Bahamas (in May) and got it in 4 weeks.

It took mine about a month, and I did pay for the expedited one... so maybe it is not worth the extra money... I think the expedited one is more about what type of envelopes are used (so they can be tracked, and there is a lower chance of it getting lost in the mail).

Don't get caught in North Africa with a passport that doesn't have any more boxes left to stamp. Trust me don't.
