Jacksonville, FL? Anyone been there?

The GF and I are looking to hang out a few extra days after the jennings trackdays. The nearest place that looks interesting is Jacksonville. Has anyone been there? Whats there to do in that region? Good restaurants? Hotels? I'll likely have a trailer with bikes, so what about secure locations for them while we play?

The boardwalk downtown is cool, and going over Dames Point bridge at night is beautiful. It is a huge suspension bridge, and lit up really pretty. When do you plan on going? My wife still has family there, and might be able to suggest restaurants.

Kinda lame. you can do better. drive a couple hours down to siesta key just off the sarasota coast. One of the best white sand beachs in the world awaits. Also they have captian curts which has the best clam chowder I have ever had.

rent an awesome condo here and enjoy the week. your girl fiend will deem you a hero.

My best friend lives there and I went in August... It was fun but most of our time was spent traveling to Orlando, Miami and other places in between... In Jacksonville there was mostly the beach, the boardwalk and eating... We went to a few good outdoor bars that were on the beach, but I'm sure most town on the beach has those...

I can tell ya that Jacksonville police don't care about skinny dipping in the ocean too much.

Florida is misleading. It is more like Southern Alabama.

Nothing, if your definition of 'rare' = hit by car less than 5 hours ago.
'medium rare' = hit by car sometime today.
'medium' = hit by car sometime this week.
'medium well' = hit by car sometime this month.
'well' = Well, if you have to ask, you might could not want to eat it.

I agree on St Augustine being a better place to visit than Jacksonville at least for a day or two. Now sure how old you are, but University of Florida is nearby. All large college towns have lots of places to rip it up.

Both Gainesville and St Augustines are about an hour from Jacksonville. Plus good riding in the state forest just west of Jacksonville.

I'm old enough to detest retarded undergrads.
I live in a college town and would rather not get the same old thing, just ina warmer clime. I'm looking for a nice place to relax w/ the GF and catch some sun and warmth. Its fucking freezing out there. I just went to pick up a bike and could barely put the bed extener back on my hands were so cold and numb. Fawk.

I'll check out St. Augustine.
