Crappy New Years
My wife, me, and the pooch moved into our new place in des plaines on saturday and all was good until right after everyone left. I started getting sick with abdominal pains and throwing up. It calmed down and I was able to sleep and I woke up sunday and the pain moved to my lower right ab. I went to my grandma's to watch the bears and she said it was probably my apendix so I checked the symptoms online and I had every one. I went to the hospital and they checked me right away and didn't need a ct scan or ultrasound they just said get me ready for surgery. My first surgery ever and it wasn't that bad but recovery has been a little tough. My wife went to the doctor yesterday for an ultrasound and checkup and we found out she was dialated 1cm. So she was there for a few hours checking for contractions. Now she is off work for a week along with me. Neither of us can really do anything which sucks but we do get to spend time together.

thats not crappy - thats great news - that they got it in time. Appendix can be really severe if not handled asap. Congrats on the baby and hey - great avatar pic!!

Mmmmmm....
Congrats on your wife being dilated! When is she due? Being dilated 1 cm doesn't necessarily mean she'll deliver anytime soon (if she's not due yet)... I was dilated to 2 cm for 6 weeks before I went into labor.
Sucks you had to have surgery but at least it was taken care of and you will be healed up before your baby comes.

Its good to get that appendix thing done before the baby comes. I'm glad you caught it in time and will recover just fine.
Congratulations on the upcoming youngin'.

That's not crappy at all, that's an incredibly interesting "how you were born" or "how I rang in 2008" story. Besides, if the first part of '08 starts with surgery, it just gets better from here.

tell your wife that paying a little oral homage will help your appendix heal, and will ease her upcoming labor pains.

+1 Big time!! A woman I work with recently had hers burst (she experienced pain for a couple of days before finally calling 911 in the middle of the night when the pain got too bad). They had to perform emergency surgery and 17 days later she got out of the hospital minus 8 inches of her colon

Look at it as one less thing to go wrong in the future. My ex's burst while in Mexico. That was a big deal and almost killed her.
Congrats on the pending birth.
