kneedragger968 bought one as the last of the warm weather faded last year. We went on jrocks ride and I had the chance to really look at it and see it in action. That is one sweet bike... it's all the little details then taking a step back that makes you get that feeling in the pit of your stomach. He did say the mirrors were useless though

Havent researched it completly tho are they still using the dry clutch system on there? That is annoying

some say that is the main allure of a duc *cough* HDTony... I don't particularly like it because it screams "hey hear my dry clutch! that's right it's a duc!" but then again I don't own one and if I did I'd probably brag about it too. Yes the 1098 is dry.

Seriously Tom, the amount of miles and the style you ride, this is not the bike for you, especially if you are not fond of the dry clutch can of marbles sound. If you want mad poser points though, buy it.

Actually I dont leave the bikes in chicago at my place for the fear of them being stolen. I leave them in wheeling in a nice garage tho I have the option of putting one in stas garage. I am sure he wouldnt mind seeing a 1098 nexted to his ducati

1 car garage in wheeling at friends and does not have anything inside but my bikes and my tools

well, that kinda defeats the whole purpose if you have to go get in the car to get out to the suburbs just to ride.

Hence ,the 'mad max' bike....one that the theives will ignore, but will still give you hours of ridiing pleasure.... like say, a nice CB550 retro cafe?

Actually I dont have to take the car. During the week i stay in wheeling and on fridays go home for the weekend. In the summer I take the bike to work and home on friday or to the channel lakes when staying the weekend out there.

Don't even think about riding that bike in this weather. Like Mao said, get it to pose. The usual, SOW, Starbucks, Strats, Pho runs, and don't go over 1k miles a season so you can keep the value up. This way, you won't have to worry about maintenance costs since you won't use it enough to even have to change the oil or do a valve adjustment .

I love the look and ability of the 1098. If I could swing it, it would be in the garage right now. I toyed with the idea of a Aprilia, but seeing they are a bitch to have work done and even harder to find parts, I have to pass on it.
Back to finding a Duc, prolly a 996. The 675 is a hot bike. I had a 955i Daytona this fall, and had a 675 keep up with me through some good twisties, and only at the top end did I pull away with any real authorety. If you want a hot bike, the 675 is awesome. If you want something exotic, I am finding out very quickly Duc is the only way to go. and as for a bike not getting stolen, try my wifes new ride. 1075 Honda CB360T.
