Do you not have a choice in your 401k allocation? Why do you need a broker/middleman? Plenty of online discount brokerage firms.

If you've only got $50K or less, I'd stick to buying mutual funds etc. since you don't know much about the topic. This can be done online very easily.

If you've got some real money, open the phone book and shop around. I'm sorry I can't give you any specific nams/numbers as everyone I know handles institutional clients and/or those with a minimum of 7 figures to invest.

Best of luck!

Yea but my view on 401k is its a waste. Its money that sits there, yes they match it and thats great but money that sits is like watching grass grow. Id rather take that 100k thats in a normal 401k and turn in into a hell of alot more in alot less time and keep turning it so by time 2 people are the same age, ive flipped that money 10 fold while they are bragging about contribution matching

Plus i work in the mortgage world. There is no such thing as 401k for us.

There is your real answer.

And btw, if you work for a company that matches and you don't participate at leaset at the minimum level needed to qualify, you are turning down FREE money. I see a great future in business ahead of you.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

Sure...that sounds realistic. If that were repeatable/possible not to mention the increased level of risk, this time of year youd be off on your private island helicoptering in a dozen new hotties and a case of condoms each week.

Good luck with that.

401k is ok as long as you don't touch the money. If you draw from it, you have just fucked yourself out of the benefit and made the government a little richer.

Roth, 401k, and a money market account for the win for a low risk investor.

Forget about individual stocks. Unless you have $$$, insider trading tips, and diversify, you will end up losing.

Mark, buy the building next to Carl's on Manheim. WSE will sign over his paychecks every single payday.

We should buy the building next store and open up a place called "Hot". Then everyone could say, let's go to Hot Carls. lol

For Mao's benefit, we could make it a 18 and under juice bar catoring to ywb.

Count me in. The only thing that worries me are the zoning and licensing issues in that area. It may take a lot to grease the wheels and probably have to pay off certain organized businessmen. Which is why I need a white dude in on it.

lol I don't know if you know this, but the gay mafia controls that area. So, you're just the man to grease that proverbial wheel. lol

its just a different mindset with money is all. See im all about high risk, high return investments but there is a ton of research before i write a check over for anything. Some people don't like risk and would rather wait for a 401k, which is also fine. Its just not for me.
