I used to go there in 98, the hazing was never at that level back then. i thing they should suspend those girls and send them to juvi for a couple of months in the summer. it's one thing to through eggs at someone or tie them to a stop sign but when you get that physical in my view it's battary (sorry for the spelling).

THE SCHOOL SHOULD HAVE ABSOLUTLY NOTHING TO DO WITH THERE PUNISHMENT. THIS WAS NOT A SCHOOL EVENT THEY (school) HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

Sorry had to vent im so sick of schools over steping thier boundrys. Cant tell you the number of times I was going to be suspened because of something that had nothing to do with the school. One mention of the lawer involved and it got dropped real quick.

Parents are screaming WHAT IS THE SCHOOL GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS. Nothing the school should do nothing they are not responsible for what YOUR kids do out side of school. Take some parenting resposiblity for your self

dont do the crime if you cant do the time.

Yeah but it shouldnt be dished out by the school.

Im all for them getting the book thrown at them but not being able to graduate and so on and so forth is garbage. They can get fines juvi time or comunity service but its not the schools job.

I think it's some of the parents and the media that have gotten the school involved.

If it was not a school scanctioned event and not on school property with no knowledge from the school, then the school should not be involved UNLESS the parents have asked the school to mediate rather than criminal charges being filed.

I don't have enough information yet to determine what's appropriate but the school working with the parents to avoid legal prosecutions, with the cooperation of the City/State's attorney seems appropriate IF that's the arrangement that they have worked out.

I agree, the school should have nothing to do with their punishment. It was done on the girls own time, and off school grounds. The schools should only have a say if an act is commited on school property or at an official school function. Now colleges may not accept these girls because of this act.

Thats what im saying slap them with some fines and some comunity service and maybe a parol officer for a while and send them on there way. This was just a tradition that got out of hand one time. And im sure it (the tradition) will go on again next year.

I agree that they should be slapped with fines etc, but its a matter for the police not for the school district. The only reason why the school is getting involved is because this made national headlines all over the world. If I was going to haze someone like that... well I would make sure it wasnt on film The parents should have been around to teach them right from wrong..... and deal punishment when the wrongs were committed. I got the belt when I did something bad. Now you hit you child(not too abusivly) and you go to jail, something is wrong with society.

I agree this had NOTHING to do with the school, and they should not have to be involved. I doubt anyone forced these girls to sit there with a bucket of poopy on thier heads, anyways. The whole thing is laughable.

I thought it was funny, but i guess some of these chicks were really getting the crap beaten out of them, sprained ankles and what not, that's taking it a bit far. If I'm thinking of the same event?

I graduated from there in 01.

Great school overall, just the nature of the people there came out in some ways.

Competition + Kids with no perspective of pain= Destructive Nature on Other.

Most people at that school live in a bubble where consquences mean nothing.

You got that right!

Now, were these "people" (I'm sorry, I fail to see the humanity in them) part of a sports, etc. team claiming an initiation for new members? Then I can see how someone would call in the school to take additional action just to punish them wherever they can.

But I agree with everyone else who says that the level of hazing makes it a criminal event and the primary agency that should be
handling this is the police - or the mental institutions since it was reported that the ones beaten up put themselves in danger in the first place.

And I also think that there is too much of "blame the schools" because parents are abdicating their responsibility, whether it is because they are too lazy or because of the general permissiveness of society today.

Okay after the caning is done.

I don't think that the school should be perceived in anyway as being responsible for this. That being said they do have a responsibility to the safety of other students and to create an atmosphere condusive to learning. So I think that those kids involved should be kept away from school for a time.

flame on!
