Good work. I failed the first time and haven't gone back. It is a nice thing to say you have but in the end it doesn't get you shit. Unless of course you are doing a lot of government work.

Congratulations, that exam was painful. Unfortunately, IIRC, you have to endure another nasty long test if you want to be a certified PE.

Yeah, my job requires it...consulting firm. They give you a year from your start date, so I theoretically had four chances to take, glad I took care of it first shot.

Is this the same as the Professional Engineering cert that is so sought after but really hard to get?

The pass rate for the particular test I just took was 72%...the PE test I will take in 4 years had a pass rate of 63% for my particular specialization. That's not too bad of a pass rate...

I failed by one damn point, I won't take it again, and I do government my government work just fiiiiiiiine

I would totally show off if I had it, though. I'd testify in all sorts of cases. I'd put "expert" on my business cards

I also failed by a fairly thin margin. I did a whole bunch wrong when I took it, no calculator, did the ME specific section instead of the general section. Bah whatever.

I wavered between General, ME, IE, and Environmental. Stupid 10 years of college. I couldn't pick what I knew the most about. I think I wasted time trying to pick. And, I also picked wrong.

Oh, and can I just say, for all engineers....WTF is with engineering economy? That all sucks ass.

Congratulations. It's true the FE doesn't get you much (though for some reason our engineering contractors want about $15 more for an EIT than a regular puke designer) but at least you get it out of the way before you forget all the general ed stuff.

Good luck on th P&P exam when you take it, that's the fun one.

Yeah, I took the general afternoon section, I flipped through the ME specific section and it looked way more time consuming so I went with the general. I finished morning and afternoon in three hours, so I had an hour for each to go back and check some of the harder problems.

It's true, for most jobs the employer could give a shit less if you have it, but for the particular consulting firm I accepted an offer with, they require it, as well as require you to be working towards your PE. They give you a "mentor" that serves as an adviser to help prepare you for the PE.

Most people in our company take the traffic discipline...regardless of what their actual specialty is. It's supposed to be the easiest. I have to start studying here in a few weeks.

Yeah, but keep it in mind. Don't ever think..."I'll never use this again" when you're sitting in classes b/c that's the shit that is on the FE.
