Annual Assessment

Got the final word today from up on high: 12.07% raise
No promotion, but will get it next year provided everything stays the same.

I know I was sour about it for a while, but overall it really was a good review. Boss said if I want to continue building my business and eventually move myself to Chicago he'd help me out. I guess I'm proud of me.

No, there are some seriously stressful things about this job. I really wanted the promotion, which would have come with more like an 18% raise. But, boss said he felt more comfortable with 12% this year and 10-12% next year with the delayed promotion. And they're going to help me out with some of my more difficult assignments. They're taking the time to develop me; I can respect that.

I already put a ton in my retirement. And my firm matches, plus I get a % of the firm's profits dumped in there every february.

I am going to take the difference in my monthly pay, put it away, and then in december do something with it. Either get myself a car (finally!), pay off some bills, or (god forbid) move out...

Very cool, Alison. That's on kick-ass raise. I think its time you bought yourself a new car.

Congrats! In defense of ill_ag since she's mentioned it before, her base pay was "very low" to begin with so a 12% raise will not actually raise it high enough to what she should be getting paid. That being said, I'd still kill for a 12% raise!

Nice raise!

I thought I hit the jackpot with 10%, but 12% would be even better- Congrats!

How long since your last raise? Exactly 12 months?

Yep. I get assessed in a january-january cycle. I started this job in 2004 while I was getting my 3rd degree; did a lot of part-time assignments and teleworking. Then when I finished school last year I came on full time; so I've only been eligible for assessment for this year anyway.
