Got my new iPhone

Holy cow does this thing blow my frigin Treo out of the water!!! Connectivity between wifi and cingular, is absolulty seemless, no useless config bullshit. Hit just bring up the browser and it works. No endless searching for java programs that didnt come with the phone like with the treo so you can watch youtube videos, just click the youtube icon and it works. Even the voicemail works in a better manner, and of course having all the ipod functionality is just a bonus, it plugs right into my Ipod cord from my Alpine in my truck and mutes when the phone rings. I could go on and on but all the windows geeks are gonna blast me anyway.

Whats that got to do with Windows? I hate OSX but the iPod is awesome. I'd probably like the iPhone if it's firmware hadn't been touched by AT&T.

Ain't it great??

I've got a iPod hookup in mine w/ the stock nav unit and it does the same thing. combined with my Aliph Jawbone, its freakin awesome!

I love the Ipod functionality and its cool for showing off pictures and such too.

They didnt hurt it by any means, the things works perfectly. no reading through lengthy manuals, no posting on forums trying to find the configurations to get things working. After having four different PDA's I have finally found one that works right out of the box.

it'll be a whole new phone. 3G requires a different type of hardware and the power consumption wil require a new battery.

I was worried about the 3G thing, in fact it's waht made m hold off til after the macworld keynote. But I gotta say it surfs and loads pages faster than my 3G treo 750 did, that thing was unusable most of the time. You barely notice a difference form the hot spots.

Fortunatley, 3G was a non-issue for me, since we don't have it in this po-dunk bass-ackwards hippy town.

That was so friggin Cool, I was on my way to kruz's house the other night tryin it out, works as good or better than a full blown GPS.

Dont get me wrong the phone is expensive and I had a hard time swallowing that price tag, especially since I get treos and blackberrys for under a hundo from work, heck I just go my wifes blackberry for 29 bucks. But now that I have it in my hands and am discovering all the features. and the functionality, I wouldnt trade for one of those other phones again.

speaking of macs, the mac kid at work today was fuckin around with a pc booted it and said "damn this shit is loud as hell, my mac is nice and quiet."

i said "yea, the mac computers are quiet, but mac users are loud as hell"

iPhone, good start but still falls way short. At least you can get some cool points from the fan boys.

The true question is how well those the iPhone make/take calls? AT&T's network is very spotty in many locations.

I thought that all phones were required to have GPS transmitters installed by the Federal government(for 911 and what not). Can't you track the phone to the thief like this?

That's not really how it works. How it works is that 911 can triangulate your position when you call them. You can also opt to turn off that feature. Furthermore, it being a GSM phone, the thief can just stick in a new SIM card and be on his way. Always write down your ESN # so you can report it lost/stolen. That way your carrier can shut it down and turn the phone into a paper weight.
