ABT, not sure if they will install if you didn't buy from them. Talk to Greg in car audio and tell him I told you to contact him.

Mark, I know nothing about this topic but I thought I heard you have to get it installed at the dealership (or a place that the dealership will recognize) or the warranty becomes null...is that just a stoopid rumor for us car illiterate people?

so what remote starter is best to get for, oh let's just say, a Toyota Tundra ???? I do need one, just been too lazy to get past writing it down on my to do list lol

There really isn't a better one. They are pretty much all the same. No it will not void your warranty. Call around and compare prices. I think the main difference is the range

Installing a remoter starter does not invalidate a warranty unless a dealership can prove that a starter was the cause of a malfunction. There is a law about it. But if your dealership is good and they install manufacturer-provided remote starters without ripping you off - why not give them a try first?

go viper 5900, ive been researching and this has the best bang for the buck on features. I got mine off ebay for $240 shipped.

and it wont void the warranty because they have to prove it caused the problem. And if it did ill go back to the shop who did the install and get a problem fixed one way or another.

Most shops wont install for obvious reasons unless you buy from them.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

I do it myself FTW!!! Mark, remove the drivers seat, get in the vehicle and close the door. Run the car with the heat on while you are not soldiering or probing wires, and knock it out. That is how us hillbillys do it here in Romeoville. You have your bikes parked in the living room, so you know what I mean

when test driving thr RDX...the salesman said that it wasnt recommended to install one on this vehicle. the dealer will NOT do it on that vehicle for some reason. the mdx may be the same.

Yea i called them and they said they wouldnt do it. But i talked to some of the guys on the MDX forums and they have it installed no problems. So i called my buddy at soundzplus and for $500 installed i can get a presitge 9000 put in. Only thing that sucks is its a full day install since from what everybody tells me its a pain in the ass to do.

$500 just for the install? Sheesh. Bring it over with a case of Pacifico and we'll figure it out. Whats the worst that can happen?

it is very intrusive into wiring and most aftermarket kits have just a short harness for wires so all the wires need to be run and a shop will place everything in with the wire runs to "hide" it all.

my POS suzuki forenza that I put remote start on was 6 hours from circuit city, the location that I went to works on appointments only

Dood, circuit city is a joke and if you have anything installed there you need to bend over because you'll be taking it back. My friends use to be installers there and they hated their jobs.

I dont mind doing my own installs, hell ive been building show cars for 8 years now. I just want it in during this winter and dont have a heated garage to do it myself. So yea $500 is not bad for install and everything.

If I owned your pimp ride, I would have someone else do the work mainly because of the liability of that nice of a ride.

Your friends were installers at Circuit City, and I was their leader.

+1000000

I had a remote start/ alarm installed on my last car at Circuit City and it was a disaster! The alarm would randomly go off and not shut off, even while driving. I had a few instances where the alarm would go off while I was driving and as soon as I stopped the car, the engine would shut off... some emergency kill switch or something made the engine shut off. I brought it back to Circuit City at least a dozen times to get fixed and it never helped.

I want to get a remote start for my new car but I'm too scared now...

Sometimes your knight in shining armor is just a retard wrapped in tin foil.
