LeatherSmiths closing on 1/31- know a good local shop?

Need to get a new pair of A* Bat pants taken in below the knees, anyone know of a good shop to have it done? Was going to take them to LeatherSmiths this weekend- looks like that option is gone.

Too bad, I didn't know that. I have sent a ton of people there over the last few decades. They did some great work.

Thought I'd let you guys know that a employee of the former Leathersmiths has his own shop now. I had him alter my new A* Bat leather pants and he did an excellent job. Can not even tell where he made the cuts. Reasonable charge as well.

You can reach Jim Marcum at [email protected].

Ask for Alexa and tell her Wink sent ya. She does an awesome job and is much more focused on the track and racing communities. Been around forever and great to work with as well.

Alexa at Spyderworks does indeed do a good job and I have recommended her in the past. I know she is very busy right now as well, so be prepared to wait.

BUT, instead of recommending Alexa I'd like to change my recommendation to Jim's Leathers.

The former employee of Leathersmiths that did all their race suit leather work is named Jim Marcum (sp?). He does excellent work and in light of Leathersmiths closing, he is opening up his own shop called Jim's Leathers.

Jim is excited about serving us with his new leather business. His business is brand new and he and I have talked several times and I have agreed to help him try to get his business up and going this season.

Jim has been very supportive of Dustin's racing efforts last year and this year. He is also being very supportive of my racing efforts this year. I want to encourage you guys to support him by sending him your business.

I think it is a very good thing for us to have this kind of business and service locally here in the Chicago area!

Here's his contact information:
Phone: 630.815.2186 - (please tell him Ron Hix sent you)
Email: [email protected] - (again, please mention my name)

THANKS!!

Ron Hix

HUGE +1 for JIM.

I have talked to Jim several times and he is a heck of a nice guy and very excited about being out on his own and working with members of CLSB. He also needs some work guys, so that means NO WAITING TIMES FOR YOU!!!

Funny... I emailed him 2 days ago and no response yet. Oh well...

Once I get my vinyl press up and running for t-shirts, I am going to do a group buy on:

"RON HIX SENT ME"

I figure if we wear these anywhere in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Will, McHenry and part of Winnebago counties, we're bound to get discounts just about anywhere

Dean

What do the internet and Channel 11 have in common? They are both a window to the world; put it out there and do not be surprised who will see it.
