are there any limits on the size and weight of a box being shipped to the troops in iraq via usps?

I know there is a "universal" USPS box that you can load down with lead weights and it is the same price as if it were feathers.

I filled one up with mags for a buddy and it weighed like 15 pounds, but it still cost something really cheap.

Probably too dam late, but...

One thing to consider is how that person is going to carry the box, or boxes, once they get there, and how far do they have to carry them.

While I was over there, our post office was on the compound, but it was about 1/2 mile from where we stayed. Plus, space on the shuttle bus was a premium, so packages just became a PITA sometimes. Not that I/we didn't appreciate every single one of them though.

One other thing to consider. Are they going out on any remote projects soon? When we were out with the Marines, we basically didn't get our mail unless it was shipped undercover with some resupply items from the compund, and then they may not even send the packages, but only letter mail. Packages would sometimes sit for a month or so until we got back, and FWIW, Girl Scout Cookies do NOT fair well inside of the storage area when it 130+ outside. Samoas and Tagalongs become one big cookie, although still edible

I sent her with instructions to place her in the middle of bahgdad, and walk away, within 20 minutes the terrorists will say "Shit, we cant compete with that level of terror" and say fuck it.

just wait until she's 16....from your description now, it'll be like Skynet taking over

Look, I can appreciate this. I was young too, I felt just like you. Hated authority, hated all my bosses, thought they were full of shit. Look, it's like they say, if you're not a rebel by the age of 20, you got no heart, but if you haven't turned establishment by 30, you've got no brains. Because there are no story-book romances, no fairy-tale endings. So before you run out and change the world, ask yourself, "What do you really want?"

I'll walk that bitch for 10 miles if I have to!

I'm responsible for manifasting the planes on this base, the only way I'd go on a remote is if I got dragged for auxilary convoy duty. That however is unlikely, do to the fact they are gonna be up shits creek without me

Thank you Tony for sending it out, and to all folks that contributed
My buddy got a package from his wife in 5 days!! I hope I get as lucky

For reference: I'm not so sure that's true. Weight, no, but USPS lists a bunch of size restrictions (basically they want all packages to fit into a mail sack) but they hide them well.

I wrote down "42 inches length & 72 inch length + girth" (yah, yah, OK) as one of the restrictions but there were four or five combinations, which I can go dig out if anyone's actually interested.

Instead of playing with the Wii they should be catching bad guys. I went out on patrol almost everyday (my boss broke both his wrists) and then came home and pulled duty surveying the area finding bad guys.

I was knee deep in hand grenade pins and empty shells.. no shit. I got the stare.
