There's a black one around the burbs.. I think Briggs bought one after crashing the Lambo lol. I'd rather take a Gallardo though.

Me too. But a Gallardo is what, $100k more than the R8 and has only 2 more cylinders?

Is the R8 AWD or RWD?

Chills, it's got Quattro. Aren't the gallardo and R8 based off the same platform?

Oh, and the R8 is about 70k cheaper. Shit, for 11k more you can get an '08 Porsche GT2.

*edit* GT2 will only be about 150k. Dayum, better start savin' lol.

Very similar AWD system on both the Gallardo and R8.

Just checked the Porsche builder: A 2008 GT2 starts at $191,700. Once you start adding options you get over $210k really easily.

How much is an R8 going for? A nicely optioned E-gear Gallardo sells for around $245k new.

Thanks. I thought they were close but I wasn't sure.

Now I understand why Top Gear did an R8 vs. C4S segment.

I thought they were pricing the Gallardo at about $150k? What happened there?

R8 starts at 109k. Audi doesn't let you build your own so not sure how much with all the options.

Check out Autotrader and you'll see. New ones are going for about $240k. The Spyders are even more.

Now, as soon as you drive the Gallardo off the lot they drop about $100k in value.

Check eBay for Gallardos or Spyders with almost no miles an only a year old. You'll find them to be about $150k.

Talk about depreciation!!

So they are similar in price with a 911 Turbo.

One of the biggest let downs to ever roll off an Audi assembly line - Great "lookin" car but the more I researched it, the #'s did not equal the $'s

Does this impress you a little more? 738 lb-ft of peak torque from V12 Diesel! Everyone can appreciate the extra bling of having a Lamborghini. But its hard to argue against performance like this, even though its "only an Audi" It also has the all important link to motorsports. When was the last time someone competed with a Lamborghini in major motorsports? This Audi has a pretty direct spiritual link to Audi's LMP1 race cars.

I keep seeing the term "concept" - Will it see production and will it see the states?

If so than all for it - My only concern would be the availability of Diesel when you need it - I am an Audi (hell most all German Mfg) fan but with the hype that was around this car and what it had when it was released, my light saber turned into a wind sock right quick

I'm curious to see what will happen to the R8 if Porsche takes control of VW. The car competes directly with the 911 Turbo and it may go the way of the dodo.

Porche has a very tiny amount of people there. I don't think it's sitting well at the moment if they come in and start dictating. Oh and no offense Chills, just my personal preference, but I totally don't dig the style of Porche on almost any of their cars. R8 totally blows any Porche in terms of design and style out of the water for me. Kinda tough to say fu to the R8 when it easily goes for 10-20k over sticker price I would think.

You've got a very good point. VW will get pissed if Porsche starts telling them what cars to make and what cars to stop. I was just saying that if Porsche starts throwing its weight around the R8 might go away. They are very protective of their 911s.

I, along with so many others, would love to see Porsche putting a 3.6 or 3.8 engine in their 987s but then those might outsell the iconic Carrera. Porsche would probably discontinue the 987 line before that. lol

No offense taken at all. The 911 is a very old style. If you look at the car you can see the similarities with a VW Bug. Not everyone is into it. Personally I've always loved the style, but that's just me. The R8 is cool looking, and given the chance I would own one... but there something about the Pcar that's got me hooked.
