Job - Urine Test

interesting thought...

Quote:
Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ASS, doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

I believe urine tests are ~40-50 bux a person. They are also the easiest to beat and worst method of detection. that being said, i have seen that message sent around before and I 100% support it. IMO laziness has been the downfall of america. everyone is "entitled" to their share. it's called work people. stop mooching off the middle class!

I heard the hair test shows the drugs that you have done years ago. Is this true or is that a spinal tap I'm thinking of?

Are you kidding?
The ACLU would be all over this claiming that it would be unfair, discriminatory, racist, etc...etc...

Hell of a great idea, though... just can't see it ever happening.

The only point I agree with from the ACLU is opening up the doors to drug testing for any government assistance. If you're going to drug test those on welfare you'd have to drug test anyone getting aid from the government like students getting the Pell Grant. If you don't it would clearly be discrimination of the poor.

.. and this is a bad idea?

Although, I can see how the argument could evolve to "I need free healthcare to get of the drugs so that I can get on welfare". Queue the saintly Democrats.

They need electronic piss testing, if they can sense glucose levels for diabetics they can surely find a way to figure out a drug test.

Then just do it to whoever gets anything. Randomly.

I don't like the idea of anyone who ever gets some form of aid from the government to have to pee in a cup. There would be a ton of folks who would be in that category that wouldn't think that they were. For example, anyone with a VA or FHA loan would need a test since they are getting a service from the government. They aren't getting a direct check but they are getting help from a government backed loan.

That being said I think I would still support these tests. It would be a huge undertaking to manager though.

I had a hair test done in high school. Either it wasn't done right, someone was protecting me, or the myths about it are really myths. I had done enough to get an elephant high and nothing happened.

I'm pretty sure spinal taps are illegal still.

Or just carry it to anyone that takes a standard deduction on their income taxes. Good idea, but I think in practice would cause some problems for certain people.

I am against the government, employers or insurance companys, requiring drug testing.

I no longer use drugs, not because I have to, but because I want to. All those tests can be beat.

Note; I saw urine testers (the stick type) on E-bay, $20 for six of them, I think.

I think it makes sense for people who abuse the system and stay on welfare for extended periods of time, but you all are missing the reason that the welfare system was put into place. It's a form of social security that people are only supposed to be using when they're in dire straits. If a successful lawyer made some bad decisions, gets busted by the IRS, loses all his savings and becomes disbarred, but is a coke head, should he be thrown on the streets? He's still a productive member of society, albeit a member who's choices not everyone agrees with. Regardless, he's worth more to society as a whole by practicing law or doing something productive, rather than sifting through garbage cans in an alleyway.

You all are viewing this from the perspective of inner city welfare abusers who are busting out children in order to get a paycheck to buy some crack. These people do not deserve to be on welfare, but the fact of the matter is that inner city minorities don't make up the majority of our welfare system, the majority comes from poor white people in the south/southeast. So while addressing this problem might save the government some money, a hard and fast, "if you piss hot, you're outta luck" rule will only serve to hurt the country and there are better ways of dealing with our welfare problem.

Now for those of you who think I'm a Liberal tree hugging human rights loving POS (i.e. Meech), I'm gonna give you my perspective on how to eliminate our welfare system as well as another problem plaguing out country.

Forced birth control. Every girl who goes through puberty in the United States should have an IUD (Inter-uterine device, a simple but effective birth control) put in her. The IUD is paid for by the government and no welfare will be paid to the child's family until the device has been implanted. If the child gets married, the device can be removed after one year of marriage so long as the couple is able to prove financial responsibility. After the child hits age 21, the device can be removed also if financial responsibility is proved.

Women hate this concept of mine, they think I'm crazy, but drastic steps will be required to get this country out of our welfare state. Eliminate the children of welfare abusers and you eliminate the next generation of welfare abusers, 20 years, problem solved.

Now who thinks I sound like a fascist?

Brian

for drugs, from what I understand.

They still use it in the medical field, but it's a bit of a dangerous procedure... (?)

Too dangerous just to figure out if you were getting high, many other methods that work today, so spinal taps aren't used anymore.
