have you noticed your county or village doing a poor job of keeping the roads clean?

i dont get it, i just got home from grocery shopping "i havent done this in YEARS by myself" thats another story. still from the other day the roads here and there nothing has been done, i am talking about from naperville down to plainfield that i drive most commonly.

so while i am out, its snowing and they are calling for 5-7 inchs of snow, where are the trucks, the salt, the clean roads DECENT enough to drive on?

this is absolutely ridiculous!!!!

i would have spent the next 1/2 hour on the phone and 10 phone calls later only to find the right dept for this and leave a message and wait a week for them to respond. but no doubt there all closed by now.

does anyone know WTF is going on with the lack of care they are treating the roads with? i pay good taxs for this area this is BULLSHIT!

Chicago streets always stay extra clean but then again city residents pay what $78?? for a city sticker. It's funny because when I used to live in Lincolnwood you could literally cross over Devon on to the Chicago side and the streets would be clean but Lincolnwood would take their sweet ass time. To me it hasn't been lately, it's been always.

when i lived in michigan they would not start plowing until after the snow stoped falling. one of many reasons i got out of that place.

I noticed the dickhead Aurora cops giving me a ticket last Tuesday while I was home sick for parking in front of my house, where no snow plowing hours are posted and in a subdivision where we perform private snow removal.

...oh, and that was after they made me PUSH my dead vehicle (dead because I hadn't driven it in 3 months) while I was on crutches so they could "witness it moving" and thus not tow it in response to the 48 hour parking limit...this after I called it in repeatedly to tell them it would be there.

I live in Schaumburg, and saw one plow on my drive home, and he was sitting in the new Tiger Direct parking lot. Taxes are outrageous here, but the snow removal sucks. Not only were the major roads still horrible, but my side streets weren't touched.

Crystal Lake and Huntley were fine. I guess the larger tax base allows them to plow there own streets. I would imagine woodstock could too.

There is definitely a change in road upkeep.... I noticed it when it snowed at 3am... stopped at 4, and the plows came out at 8.... on a weekday... fun day to drive to work that day.

I wonder if the last several winters having below average snowfall comes into play. Plowing/salting budgets get approved based on prior use, right? We've seen more snow this winter than we've seen in a while...

As an FYI most suburbs are out of salt, when i say out that means theres none in there sheds
Dont expect to see much soon(shipments are delayed or not coming), most have used up there allotment for the year, what little they have will be used in the early am or late evening after the trucks come through and plow, not sooner
drive safe, and if you dont belive me call and ask, Dupage county(DPC) is out if that says anything

I'm in Romeoville and the roads suck. We had no school yesterday due to cold and will probably be home again tomorrow. I did the driveway and front steps, and when I was done with the fookin driveway, I look back and the damn steps are all snowy again.....Someone tell me again why we live in this godforsaken place. I HATE the snow. Where is the sunshine, I wanna take the riding course, and get on my bike.....sorry rant over, back to what you were all saying. ~Mandy

2 hours, 20 miles in lake county on the way home. Saw 1 plow with his blade down.

Went back out between 730-830 and the roads weren't that bad, there more plows out since there were less cars.

As long as the people who can't drive in this stuff stay off the roads, ie 90% of chicagoland, we'd be ok. It really isn't that bad, it's only snow.
