It's hard to find pricing on Ducati. I can't even find list prices anywhere. 14-15k is what I was thinking as well. Any of you Duc men know?

I bought one, Rick is about right, I believe I paid $16.5K. The price has gone up since I bought mine though, weak $.

FYI, Like Rick said it's not worth it, if i had to do it all over again I'd still buy it.

Couldn't you get an 848 for that much?

Damn, that's too bad. Saw one at Chicago Cycle today and REALLY liked the way it looked and felt. Would be a worthy upgrade to the DRZ, but not for 4 times the amount...

I think less...the 848 is wonderful bike...but no longer my riding style. If I was going to get a track bike...I'd rummage thru Grasshopper's big box of parts and build me one. I ain't tossing a 848 down the track

The 848 was hot. I have enough sport bikes in my garage. I was really just looking for a good upgrade to the DRZ if something bit me in the ass. This did, but for 17k, it's not going to happen.

I believe it to be overpriced and you are paying a lot for what you get. But riding it, it just feels really good. That is until you run out of gas after less than a hundred miles and your ass broken from the seat. I used to really like the seat, until I did a whole day on it.

I hope it never becomes a popular bike, like those cookie cutter 1098s and 848s.

The DRZ has potential. Stock, it's a dog. I have been back and forth on selling the one I have. Looking deeper, though, if I threw a couple grand at it it could easily be a formidable bike. I wouldn't take it on a trip like you mentioned unless it was all back roads and I had a new seat on it. The stock seat feels like a 2x4. I originally bought it for getting around downtown, but I no longer live there so I am struggling with a good use for it If I beef it up a bit, it can regain some fun factor.

Just bring the DRZ out to the track with us. You will forget about selling it. Unless you end up buying one of those big orange singles.
