Please don't tell me you're riding on big rims with low profile tires during the winter?

Ah, I see. Well I've seen a few threads about this and apparently you can get some money from the city for repairs or replacement of your rim. Ask G2G, I think it took him a while but he received at least some money.

Sorry to hear all the same, maybe investing in some steel rims for the winter might help.

Yeah, some roads are supper shitty now since they have salted them. Then, in the last week they filled many of these pot holes with tar, but when they threw salt down again, it ate all the tar away . I think they need to start using sand instead of salt, salt just tears the roads apart. I ride 100 ft behind the car in front and dodge all the pot holes, if you are too close and the car in front swerves, it will be too late for you to react, so you will be riding over the hole.

maybe if you would stop looking at gay porn mags while driving you could pay some attention to the road and go around the pot holes.

i know that IPR goes east and west. since that part of the road directly to the south of ohare will be torn up in the ohare expansion i dont think they are in a big rush to fix it.

My car comes with a pot hole avoidance device. It works. I have yet to ruin a rim in 16+ years. True story.

I think it is safe to say that it is not the salt eating away tar that is causing pot holes. It is the plows catching the uneven patch and ripping it up.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Yeah I was pretty sure it was the plows ripping chunks out of roads, not salt eating it away. I have 18s and still haven't ruined one yet.

It's the freeze / thaw cycles we have been going through.

It gets warm.... cracks fill with water.
It freezes, ice expands and breaks the pavement.
More water gets in.
Repeat till road is wrecked.

what make me upset is when they "fix' them. two guys throwing ashpault off the back of a truck with a shovel is not a fix that will last more then 5 minutes.

True. And a lot of the times they start to sink after a few cars go over them.

that's because they use 'cold-patch' which is an asphalt that is always malleable. it's too cold for the preparation and real asphalt to be installed, so cold patch is used as a temporary fix to help motorists with poor driving abililty.

Another one bites the dust. Blew one last night. Going east on 94, middle lane, about 55mph, about 50ft from the Wilson exit, hit a facking crater. Blew one tire, replaced 4 (got a spare also off a v-dub -bbs wheel). Gouge on the wheel (straight, no dents/bends) which was just refinished. DOH!

BTW, props to the story teller for trying to help me by bringing me water and a spare wheel. Many green dots to you my friend!
