Acura RL

Anyone on here have one or know anyone who has one?

I'm considering one and wanted to get some feedback.

Mom has an older CL type S. I love that car. Never a problem, great dealers, nice car. No screwing around with options either. I think there were three options for her car. (Spoiler, gold package, floormats)

I had a 2007 RL for a year. Loved it. I didn't like the lack of distinctiveness from the Accord, but the interior and technology were top notch.

A couple of things:

The anti cllision stuff is slick, but kicks in at weird times, like if you get a little close to someone as they are turning and you are "swerving" around them. All of a sudden your brakes will pop and your seatbelt will tug. It takes a little gettign used to where the sweat spot is for that.

The lazer cruise control is one of the best out there. Many use sound to determine where the car is in front of you, Acura actually uses lazer. Just keep the snow off the front emblem if you get that package so it works.

The 4WD is very good. Probably the best in the business.

The DVD surround is GREAT. I had a TL and upgraded and felt the RL had a much richer sound. DVD Audio is losing the battle so unsure if Acura has it in their 2008 models.

The pickup could be a little better. it's a heavy car and the gas mileage is dismal. Honda accord V6's could beat it off the line, but that's not why you get an RL.

The climate control is state of the art and actually takes into consideration your direction of travel and where the sun is coming from. Very nice.

The Navigation knob takes a while to get used to.

Comfort and overall fit and finish rivals top of the line cars. It's a great buy - especially with 2500 cash to dealer right now...

That's what a lot of people say. My wife wants one, but we have to pay off the TL first.

My unlce's girlfriend has a silver one and she loves it.

The RL has a carbon fiber drive shaft.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

J, I dunno, to me it looks like a retarded TL. I'm sure women love the car since it pretty much does everything for you, but it's just fugly IMO. I must say that the interior is top notch. Is there an S-type of the RL?

Look at it, it doesn't even have nice wheels lol. They should throw the TL wheels they have ont eh MDX's (19's?) on that bitch. Would look much better.

I considered one before getting the MDX and its def a top notch car. For 50k though I think there are better cars out there for the buck. As much as i love acura the new caddy CTS is pretty damn sexy.

i'd be getting one from an auction and wouldn't be paying more than $25k.

Looked at the MDX also. There are too many cars that I like out there!!!

The looks are ok for me, but not "different" enough for the $$ which is one of the reasons I got rid of it. That and I really wanted the SRT8 Charger instead - which was stupid in retrospect.

He means he likes to many cars ya

I tossed around the same decision you had for a while and in the end the MDX made the most sense. Its all about what your going to use it for. The main reason I got the mdx aside from its pimpness is the fact it can haul 5000lbs and gets the gas mileage of a car with a 300lb engine. Interior or course as you know acura has in the bag over any manufacturer.

I'll take #2 with bigger wheels. #3 has nice wheels (look like Work wheels?).

You don't like the M45???? I'd rather take that over the RL, looks A LOT more sportier.

I'm still debating the whole car vs SUV thing....

The GTO is very not practical as far as trunkspace and utility go. Great car, but probably more so as a 2nd car.

I'm the outdoorsey type and may want to tow something in the near future.

Options for me are:

1) keep GTO and buy a daily driver
2) sell GTO and buy 1, nice, all-round vehicle.

I do own an ATV which I plan on keeping and I also plan on taking many trips this year.

I've been tossing around the RL, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, MDX, Outback and a low mileage QX4 but I can't make up my mind.

MDX, then RL, then Outback (all fully loaded) would be my choice order I really like the Outback, especially for all-around all weather driving. MDX has all the stuff the RL has, for the most part, but is cheaper. If you are going to an auction, you may not have a big selection. Any of the cars in your list would be fine

I vote FJ. Never been in one/driven one but i think they look pimp. Considered trading the A6 in for it but that's not possible right now. If you don't care about havign a back seat, get the FJ, then get those big roof crates when you need to haul shit.

I like the FJ, especially one like this...

I really don't care about the back seat cause I'm not a big fan of passengers.

I need to figure out what the phuck I want, that's all. I change my mind about every 6 hours.
