Fence advice...

...no, this is not a thread asking for advice on "off the truck" specials on Grand Ave......

I'm looking to fence in the rest of my yard with a gate on the side driveway (I have two dogs and don't want to worry about them being outside and running off into the street).

Does anyone know of any good fence people - or bad ones to avoid? I'm on the NW side of the city.

my advice it to go with the electric fence, trust me your dogs are smart enough that it will only happen 1-2 times. we made the mistake of fencing in our yard and now everyone in the neighborhood has them and to be honest it looks like shit! i hate fences, if you do go with a fence stay away from wood, unless ofcourse your looking for privacy, if you are forget anything i posted here and go with the 6' double sided wood fence!

i know this sounds stupid but this guy in my neighborhood has a chain link fence and wooden fence combined. Its a six foot fence with the bottom 2 feet chainlink and upper 4 feet wood. Its nice because you have to bend down to see in the yard but perfect if you have dogs so they can see out and still be vigilant. I was even thinking of going that route because it looks really good.

Just a suggestion.

i agree. i'm not much of a fence guy either. i like looking out down the yards. plus fences would get in the way on dirt bikes

I've heard horror stories of electric fences...I wanted one until I heard a story about a guy who had one and well his dog is no longer.

Life is too short to ride anything but an R1

Anne sees people come in with dogs all the time with holes burned in their next from them. That being said those are your cheap 3-4-500$ fences you get at kmart or petsmart. The collars on the cheap ones will get frequencies mixed up and they can go off by someone running a microwave or remote control car. The fence I have is very high end, would cost you $1500 to have put in. It is guaranteed to be safe. Truth be told Anne is still a bit scared cause of what she's seen come into the animal hospital but if it was up to me I would install it this summer.

Would'nt it be funny to see your neighbors dog start "DANCING" like a mad man everytime you open the garage door or heat up dinner?
