Shipping Motorcycles

I need to get a hold of a company that can help get my bike shipped. It's complicated, however. I need a national company that can ship the bike almost every other week depending on where I go. They also need to get the bike to its' destination within three-four days. I also need them to carry spare parts, tires yadda yadda.

Anyone have any recommendations based on the above?

Sounds expensive. Many places will not ship cargo with fuel in it so you may have to remove it every time which is a major PITA.

May be cheaper and easier to rent a bike for a short stint...

Hah. It's not going to be that glamorous. It's only for about a 2 month period when I am traversing the country on the wing later this year, I will be making stops at various tracks and what not, but I cannot obviously bring the bike and parts with me - that's why I need the company.

I want to do it as inexpensively as possible but right now I am just trying to get an estimate so I can budget. i will be making 5 stops so it will need to be shipped 6 times total in 2 months.

Yes, but I am taking a month off for vacation and the other month I am going city to city for work while on the Goldwing - mostly west coast. While I am doing the travel, I am going to get some track time in. I may not be able to do all that I want, so I am planning now to see what's realistic.

You need to buy a truck/van, pack it and hire a licensed and bonded truck driver and tell him where to be and when. Give him an expense account and have your accountant keep track of it. When you are done, sell the truck/van.

Got good pricing on a truck rental, a nice trailer, and special insurance for the cause. I am actually going to use a client of ours to do that part (they are a large logistics and transportation company). What I need to work out is hiring someone for two months straight to do the driving and what-not. If I'm going to do it right, it may as well be someone who can take care of pit work and kinda be my support while I am doing this... This will be the part that will determine if it's worth the cost or not.

If someone is really able to commit to the entire time and have the skill necessary to do it, as well as being fully bonded, I would definitely take someone from the board once my $$ analysis is done.

It all depends on $$. It's very aggressive so I want to be realistic. All I am doing now is lining up costs. I think the largest cost will be the person needed to move from location to location. The truck, trailer, insurance, and track costs for 5 track days over 60 days are about $15,000.00. The problem is, there will be a lot of time between track days that I would be paying someone to sit... That's where this might be too much to manage/do.

In-between all of this, I have group rides lined up as part of my trips. And I can't forget that for one month I am actually working as well. It's becoming a logisitical nightmare as I work through it. I may have to consider having help with that alone... I may be gettign in over my head

Paul you need to figure out what to pay someone for 2 months 24 hours a day and set a price your willing to pay then let then come to you. rember that would be a tax write off for you since you hired someone to do work for you.

many trackdays with the big orgs have trackbike rentals available thru a second party. I would think that would be infinitely cheaper than trying to arrange for your own bike to be hauled to each location..... unless you crash the rental every time out
