Pre-Production car on the streets?

Anyone else just out in the loop spy this crazy covered up car?
I was just out now on my lunch break and saw this car going down Madison near State. At first I thought it was enterprise bringing someone their car, but it was covered up in white cloth and had Michigan plates. Looked like the spy photo pics in Motor trend.

Maybe something got loose from the autoshow. I was to slow with the camera phone so I don't have any pics, just a nice story for ya.

I can tell a Toyota from a Nissan from a Ford, but couldn't figure out what it could be close to.
Was wrapped up like this:

this is not the actual pic of the car that was in the loop, just a similar type vehicle.

We have been having a lot of top secret car things going on at my work. I got to peek into one of them, and they were a bunch of similar colored (silver) SUVs with all the logos covered up for people to look at and sit in.

And just the other day we had people test driving some Toyota and Honda cars in and out of our convention center.

Lots going on, I assume, to go along with the Auto Show.

I see cars like that all the time south of Joliet on I-55, sometimes whole fleets of them.

I think that is one of Dave13's new project cars that he bought for less than $500.00

When I lived in Detroit we saw stuff like this all the time. it's common for auto companies to take these cars on long road trips.

The picture in the first post is a photo found on the web. Its similar to what I saw out on the streets. The car was 4 door, probably white, and had a roof/door line like the new Lexus sedans. Two suit and tie guys riding in it.

Do foreign manufacturers use Michigan plates on their test vehicles or is that domestic only? It definitely had blue Michigan plates.

That's what I was thinking based on the grill/front end.

The styling isn't like anything I'd expect from VW, though. Looks kinda like the new Ford designs.

The pic is a 2008 Ford Focus I found on the web. Again, not the car I saw in the loop today.

I walk past an old Fiero every morning. I've considered seeing if it runs/how much they want for it as it has 4 flats and doesn't seem to have moved in a long time.
