Do you love your current bike???

My neighbor and I were talking about the love of bikes and all things shiny. Here is the question that we both asked.

Do you love the current sexy bike in the garage or are you always looking for something bigger, better, faster, sexier?

I have a bike from 1975 and LOVE it. It is what I have always pictured myself riding. I'm not a speed junkie ( I do LOVE to drive my car fast). I don't shop online for another bike. Dave13 is ALWAYS looking at bikes. I understand that some of the new stuff is very very hot, but the question are:

Are you happy with what you have right now?

Would you trade your current bike for something else, if so the same model just newer?

Would you want something faster/more powerful?

~Mandy

There are so many bikes I want.. Every time I start with the "i dont need so many bikes" thing I end up coming up with more bikes I need... Motard, Dirt, Track, Street, Touring, City, Liter Twin Street, Liter I4 Street it goes on and on

I had 6... Have 5 now.. Need at least 10

I would trade the 996s for a 1098s or r, but I thing my wife would kill me.

The 996s has an awesome powerband, I think it will keep me entertained for a while.

Start putting out and I won't kill ya over a bike. But you should at least consider not making the SOS rich with title/plate fees.

I'm not complaining about the looking, just asking if this is a normal thing or if it's mental problem only you have. Love ya' ~Mandy

I LOVE my bike! I would not trade it for any other bike. I often thought about this question....what if I had the money and opportunity to get something bigger, better, faster.....I can not think of another bike I would want. I'm in love.

Yes, but I spent a ton of time on my previous Busa (non-turbo) tuning for it to run like silk. I'm more hesitant to mess with the turbo version.

I've toyed with the idea of going to a sport tourer like the FJR1300

I did have a true love with my first bike (sv650) but it was because it was my first. Thought it was the best thing on the planet. Then I got my gixxer 750. Really like this bike too. But Bikes with me are somethng that I change every few years. I am in a condo so I can only own one at a time. Bikes are relatively inexpensive enough that I can get new ones every few years as my mood changes. Started off wanting a sporty standard naked. Then wanted a all out SS bike, now looking for something less single purpose focused. That's the cool things about bikes, generally they are less than 10k new so you can hop around and try everything.

Ever thought it was the rider?

I don't care what it is, I love all bikes. Includes bicycles as well, I am fascinated with the conspiracy theory of people balancing on two wheels.

I love my bikes, and I love everyone else's bikes. There is an admiration bike owners have, I think, for all things moto. Even the casual rider has an affinity for other riders and their machines. I don't quite understand it, but I like it. I always think my collection is complete until I see something else that catches my eye and is not represented yet. That doesn't mean I don't like what I have, it just means I think I need something else to fill a perceived gap

I have had my share of 20 to 30k$ motorcycles...
and I was just as excited to ride a buddies 3 or 4k SV as I was to ride their Duc

Damn girl! That's a hell of a step up!

As for me. I have the SV650. It would be nice to have a v-Twin 1000 of some sort that could haul my big arse around a little easier, but I do enjoy my bike.

I look at it like my guitars...when people are like "why do you have so many guitars, you can't play them all at once!", I say, "it's like food, each has a different flavor and it's nice not to have to eat the same food every meal".

Same goes for motorcycles I figure. You not only have completely different styles of riding (dirt, track, road, cruising etc), but each has it's own flavor. I could have my SV for sporty/torquey zipping around town, but have a Gixxer 600 for something sporty, but faster. I could have a Harley for putt-putting around town and posing at the local bars, but I could also have a custom chopper for putt-putting in a bit more style (and power).

I guess I look at motorcycles as more then just a utilitarian mode of transportation (which is what a motorcycle was invented for IMHO). I'm sure most if not all of us here do. And if that's the case, and this is a hobby, then more flavors are needed!

OK, enough with the pre-coffee rambling...

For me I'm always looking for the next bike. I like my current bike and sometimes miss the ones I have sold but life goes on. I'm always looking for the next bike. Not necessarily looking for more power or better handling, just something different to keep it interesting.

I do love my bike but I bought it knowing it was to learn on and prepare me to move up. I am also in love with what I will get next and consider that to be the bike I'll keep for a very long time.

My bike does what I want it to. I wouldn't say that I love it, but the fact that it is good enough and I don't have the money to spend on a new one keeps me from looking at anything else.

I want something older and slower for the street.

No really, I'd love a vintage Honda. I miss my '67 Benelli.
I do love my Hawks. I will probably never sell the street Hawk. It's not worth enough to bother anyway. That bike and my four wheeled special needs child, '64 Fiat 500 (is exactly like Luigi from "Cars" - I had it years before the movie). Too much sentimental attachment to sell them.

I do agree in the wanting of different bikes for different needs. It would be nice to have a dirt bike and and some kind of tourer in addition, and someday I'll get a track bike that doesn't top out at 110mph.
