What does your dog say about you?

Or

What do certain breeds say about the owner?

I for one own a Jack Russell Terrier (SHUT UP!) and I love him to death. He's smart, athletic (he can catch a frisbee), and very alert. So does owning a dog that weigh's about 15 lbs make me GHEY????? Or am I just secure in my masculinity knowing damn well I have enough testosterone to fill 50 sets of testicles??

Discuss.

I grew up with tiny little dogs and though everything can go both ways felt that real powerful men didnt need to have big powerful dogs

Something about having a pit bull with a tow chain wrapped around it's neck (actually saw this the other day at petco - a real 50lb tow chain) makes you look like a compensating tool to me...

That said, I love pit bulls... just hate what people do to them.

my dog growing up was 4lb's at her heaviest.... and she was a little anger missile.. She bit my brother and caused him to get a dozen stitches once (he totally had it coming... parents agreed)

My wife and I have two Boston Terriors, 1 is 28lbs, the other about 22lbs. We are not big dog fans, however these guys think they are huge. They have huge hearts, look tough (look like miniture boxers), but wouldn't hurt a fly. We wanted a type of dog that we would never have to question their temper around anyone, especially children and are very active. I don't think we would ever stray away from the breed, we just can't help to love their temperment, love and companionship. (note: though we do recognize that most dogs are the same way too.)

We would do anything for these two guys just as if they were our kids, no quesitons asked.

I hear that Retrievers in general are excellent with children. Probably why there are so many of them. I consider them the All American Dog.

I agree. If it weren't for the pain of raising and training a puppy for the first year, coupled with the fact that I'm rarely home, I would have had me a second dog by now. That second dog would be an English Staffordshire Terrier.

I'm right there with you. My oldest male is going to be 7yrs old, he's built like a rock shit house because it was only him and I for about 3 yrs and we would play so rough and exercise a lot. That's why he's so big for his breed. He just bulked up. People often mistake him for a year old pitbull because of his stance and look. I wish i was ripped like this little guy.... ha.

My other Botson is nothing but a quiet cuddler.

I have a 6 month old black lab. I got a lab because they are supposed to be great family dogs and so far Max has not disappointed. My 2 daughters, 10 & 8, love him to death. My wife, who's not crazy about dogs, loves him too. What does this say about me? I have no idea.

He gained 15 lbs. this month and is now a studly 49 lbs.

The Rott (Mercedes) was great - She lived to be 8 yrs old and had (2) litters

The Border Collie (Syd, named after who else) was the coolest dog I have EVER owned - Smarter than I (not saying much) and ran just as fast and as hard at 15 as he did at 6 mos - Died when he was 16 yrs old - I still miss that damn dog
