International Kennel Club Dog Shows @ McCormick place 2/21 -24

I know there are a lot of dog lovers on here so I wanted to let you know there the International Kennel Club Dgo Show is next weekend, 2/21 - 2/24 @ McCormick place. I will be showing my puppy Mimi there all 4 days. This is one of the premiere shows in the country, attracting 100's of thousands of spectators. You will have a chance to see some of the dogs that compete (and won) at Westminister Kennel Club this past week. This show attracts the top dogs in the country!

Info can be found and discount passes can be found @ http://www.ikcdogshow.com/

The show has conformation, obedience, agility, flyball, rally obedience and other events. In addition, the vendors sell EVERYTHING you could ever want for your pooch!

The show is 'benched' on Sat and Sun, meaning all exhibitors must stay at the site from 10am - 4pm, and when they are not showing, their dogs must be crated on their designated bench for spectators to come by and see the dogs and chat.

If you decide to come by, let me know and I'll post up my ring times that I'm showing and where I'll be benched.

The harley swap fest used to me the same weekend so if you need parts it can serve two purposes.

Not sure if it still is.

I do competitive obedience, agility and conformation. This year however our agility dog (Lola) isn't ready to compete yet at this level, so all I will be showing is the Doberman puppy Mimi. She's pretty much a future superstar and has the Doberman world taking notice of her....she's pretty incredible! Here's a couple pics. She shows like a seasoned show dog and she's only 9 months old.

Ok, here's the deal. Thursday and Friday are 'show and go'...I win, I leave when done showing, I loose, I leave when done showing...so unless your there to actually watch Dobes show you'll miss me.

Saturday and Sunday are benched...I am there all day. Since I'm going to the Nesba bash Sat night, you'll find me crashed out in my benching area on sunday...no joke!

Ok, he's my schedule:

I'm benched with my friend Jennifer Goldfein in 32B.

Thurs - Ring 7, 9am
Fri - Ring 7 8:30am
Sat - Ring 7 8am
Sun - Ring 7 10:35

Looking forward to seeing you guys!! I can use a cheering section..lol

Sounds great! I will be over by the ring getting ready to show. How it works is all the Dogs go first (males), then all the bitches go next. Then the winenrs dog, and winners bitch go back into the ring at the end and compete against all of the champions ('specials' is how they are known). Saturday's judge is usually pretty good for me. She typically likes my dogs a lot.

This is going to be very exciting!
On a side note, have you seen the movie "Best in Show"?

I have! I am a huge Christopher Guest fan! Unfortunately for us dog show people...he pretty much nailed our little under ground community. The nerd with 2 left feet who marries the dog show slut, the anal retentive couple who thinks their weim is their child and causing problems in their marriage, the lesbian handler having an affair with her client, and the 2 gay guys with the shitzu's. It's all sad but tru!.

There's a whole sub culture going on behind the dog show...who's sleeping with who, who gave what judge a blow job to go Best in Show. GOOD stuff.

Not sure if my parents are going. They currently have 3 Champion Alaskan Malamutes. 2 are retired. They sometimes show Mika but its for fun now as he has earned his title. He's huge and a Sable. Not all that common but still standard color. Most judges prefer the black and white. He made the Purena bag layout last year. He's my dad's bud.

Not a great pic but here he is.

Well good luck.

Very beautiful! Too much grooming for me! I like my wash and wear dogs. Snip off a few whiskers, trim up a few stray hairs, grind their nails...done!

It's a great opportunity! If you stick around for group judging in the afternoon (the best dogs of each breed in their respective groups compete against each other) it's a good way to see al your favorite breeds in a ring at the same time.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there! Make sure you come by and say hi.

Group judging goes on each day. competition starts with dogs competitng against their own breed. The Best of Breed winner then competes in his 'group'...in which there are 7...Hound, sporting, working, herding, terrier, non sporting and toy. The winner from each group then goes onto Best in Show competition. It makes for a REALLY long day if you happen to have a big winning dog.

If you get there by 10:30...you can come see me show Mimi (we show at 10:30, ring 7), if not...You'll find us in the benching area (Row 32b) lounging around trying to recover from the NESBA/CLSB at Durty Nellies the night before.

Very cool! Looking forward to meeting you guys! I'll PM you my cell #. Not sure what the reception is like in there though. If I'm not showing, I am in the benching area by Mimi...we are with friends of mine who are professional handlers...Jennifer and David Goldfein, Row 32B.

Make sure you go to the link I have on the first post and print some discount passes. Also, there is a judging schedule for each day of the show listed it will give you the time and ring number for each breed being shown...that wayyou won't miss your favorite breed. Also, make sure you go watch the agility competition. It's fast paced and a blast!

See you guys this weekend.
