Whats a good restaurant to go dressed up downtown?

Can't really say I've done the dressed up dinner thing but I figure it'll be a nice suprise for my gf since I know she wants to. She has the impression we are going to Gino's east but I'd rather do a lil more. Its for tomorrow night.

anybody got any ideas?

If you guys like Ginos and you just want to do a little more without being stuffy, try Scoozi. It's nice but not unconfortable, and you won't be out of place if you're dressed a little nicer than usual. I always like that place and it's not too hard to get a table at the last minute.

2. What type of food?
3. How much you want to spend?

French = Everest downtown

Quartino...my new favorite place. Food is about as good as you will get anywhere on Earth, seriously. Simple REAL Italian.

It's kind of a casual place but I've seen men in tuxedos, nobody looks out of place.

I've taken girls to Cite(french food) on top of lake point tower. Great view of the city, somewhat pricey. You're good with business casual attire.

My friend recommended Spiaggia. Its right off michigan ave with a window view.

Price range I figure no more than $100 for dinner. She is 20 so we wont be drinking. Food type im thinking italian. I checked out everest on zagat actually.

Dressed up as in her in a dress and me in a suit is what im thinking.

Spiaggia and Everest for $100 will be tough.

I just dropped $600 for two at Les Nomades on Ontario. Did the five course with 1 1/2 bottles of wine. 1993 Diamond Creek Gravelly Meadow FTW. French cuisine is going to set you back more than $100.

Not sure, but I thought Spiaggia was more expensive. You may not will be able to get a dinner for two for $100.

Here is my suggestion. Go to Francescas on Taylor. Then hit up the wine bar Beviamo right across the street.

EDIT I just saw Dr. D's post. I agree, $100 will be tough at Spiaggia.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Great suggestion Virgin Popper! The only problem is she's 20, so wine bar is out! (Amazing - men never listen! )

Seriously though - I love Francesca's - fun place and great food! Beviamo is a nice little unpretentious piano bar - don't know if they card hard though - you might be able to sneak her in...

I know of a little spot called Maggiano's. There is a downtown location, and your tab should be under $100 with plenty of leftovers.

lol yeah forgot about the underage thing. But, in this case it wasn't that I didn't listen, it was that I didn't read. By the way, you looked hot at Maxbar.

yea see we're not out to go drinking all night. She told me tonight she doesn't wanna do anything to fancy so i think spaiggia is out. Plus Ive been reading reviews and alot of people complain about paying alot for tiny portions.

I read some reviews on scoozi and i think thats where we are going. Not to pricey, good atmosphere and tons of raves about good food. Im just wondering what kind of attire to wear? Since i hear its like an open warehouse id hate to be dressed up and look to far outta place.

Francescas on Taylor is good but there are a couple better places on Taylor. I lived right across the street from there and miss eating like a pig everyday with the best italian around. I thought the service was sub par evertime I went to Francescas.

As far as getting Burntash laid, I think I'd have better luck getting Tony to eat some New York style pizza.
