I-55 Construction begins March 1

I didn't see it posted anywhere so I thought I might warn some of you.

Beginning March 1 they are starting the I-55 widening project. This will run from I-80 to Weber Road. I do not know how or when it will affect traffic in each direction but either way... it is going to be a mess. Start planning the alternates. Happy commuting.

Dean

What do the internet and Channel 11 have in common? They are both a window to the world; put it out there and do not be surprised who will see it.

What they did last time was elongate the exits to Rt.30 and Weber Roads... install new sewer / drainage / water service in the center lane gullies and eliminated the water detention areas between north and southbound traffic between Rt. 126 and about Rt.30.

Now they are talking about widening - this spells nothing but nightmare conditions for rush hour travelers. Looks like back roads for me every day now.

The next big project is the widening of LaGrange Road from 131st to I-80...have fun if you live south of 55 in that area

Dont think it will be totally bad as long as they just shut off the 126 entrance that is where most of the backups start!

I work with some former employees, and do a lot of business with Orange Crush.

When I was an intern for the City of West Chicago, we had them do the resurfacing west of 59 and Main Street...it was their first job since the incident.

Does this give you an idea of how I feel about all this? I live just off I-55 and Rt 53, and frequent I-55 to Route 30. This is gonna suck. The side roads are going to be hell, and getting anywhere is going to take forever. They won't work at night, and the project will take 3 months longer than planned. I hate road construction. I grew up in the south and because it can be spread out all year, it's never really bad. But here in our little corner of snow bound hell, it's either snow, or F*$&ing construction.....AHG!!!!!!

I don't ride, I cook!
