Is Kimbo Slice the real thing??

After watching this http://www.mmatko.com/kimbo-slice-vs...eet-certified/ and a few other back yard brawls it seems like he can take ALL MOST anybody. Is it just that people (the press) is building him up to be this brick wall or what?? I know the guy can do what he does best (give beat downs) but the guy has gotten a beat down himself and then he really hasn't fought anybody. Isn't he also 34 and with all the street fighting he has done, how much more can he give???

I'm not hateing on him. I just want the guy to get in the pit with someone that can hang....

He is one bad mutha! I think i saw him gave up once on a fight though...it was inside a gym, and he was fighting an ex cop or something like that. He just ran out of stamina since the fight lasted longer than he's used to.

Nobody is unbeatable. Kimbo is pretty bad ass in backyard brawls because most of the time he's fighting big guys (even two at a time) that don't have much skill. In the case of that ex cop in the gym he got his ass handed to him because Kimbo didn't have as much skill. His strength and his ability to land a deadly punch with that strength has taken him far but I think that there are many others out there who could take him on without problem.

he's probably the baddest dude at the bar anywhere he goes. he is big, can take a punch, and has a decent knowledge of fighting. his size gets him through most of his street brawls. However, if you put him in the ring, with even mild rules, he will probably get beat.

Cool to watch on youtube, but put him up against someone that knows how to fight and he'll get PWN3D.

you're crazy dude

Mercer is a washed up BOXER. he's almost 50. he fought two k1 fights, and by his own admission, "got the shit kicked out of him." to say that's a good oppenent for someone who's trying to become a legit MMA fighter is retarded. and so is Tank for that matter.

Kimbo is a tough dude without a doubt. Like gconsier said, he has raw talent. But given the skill level he has today along with his conditioning (or lack thereof), and he will lose if you put him up against a world class fighter in his weight class like Gonzaga, Cro Cop, or even Randy Couture.

He has the talent. Put him in some smaller events first and let him work on and develop his technique and he will be a top contender in the UFC.

BH mentioned K-1. I LOVE K-1. Any K-1 fans on here? Buakaw Por Pramuk is the baddest mothafucka ALIVE!!!!

Do you know if Comcast broadcasts any of its events? I know that satellite TV does. I only get to see them after they happen on YouTube or similar sites.

I haven't seen any of the recent ones on comcast live or even re-broadcast. ESPN2 used to show a lot of the replays of the Grand Prixs from the early to mid 90's

See, thats what I'm talking about. The Press is makeing him bigger then the guy is right now. I know he can tear some sh%t up but I everyone agrees that he has NOT got in it with a well put togther fighter.

With him being 34 and looking like 40 I don't think that he'll be given the oppertunity to through down with some big name unless he's doing this for a few more years....

Yeah K-1 is pretty bad ass CroCop use to be an K-1 fighter,
Kimbo does have a chance in mixed martial arts. if he can work on submissions and counter defense he will do pretty well, though he is coming from a one dimensional style of fighting so to adapt to a multi dimensional style of fighting some fighters cant adapt. Though with all that said all it takes is one punch to get KTFO!

I saw his debut match on Elite XC a few weeks ago. The fight lasted about 6 seconds.

He has the raw talent and the best trainers in the biz right now, and he's working his ass off. I think he will do all right in a couple of years, but time is not on his side since he is mid 30s already. I don't think his conditioning will be so bad, he has dropped a lot of weight. It just hasn't been tested since the schmucks he fights haven't been able to survive a round. And it isn't his fault who he fights, everyone thought Kimbo would be a massive failure so they put him against other guys that suck. It's not worth it to pay an A level fighter to kill Kimbo in 30 seconds and then piss off all the fans.

I am so sick of hearing about his previous street fights and Gannon this or boatyard bum stomping that. It was years ago and has nothing to do with anything in mma right now. Kimbo was a dumb ass brawler with no training back then.

I wanna see kimbo vs Frank shamrock or even with Jackon "Rampage" quinton. That would be a good match. kimbo woulod get beat in the MMA unless he fights another brawler like himself.
